    Ward won, that's what happened.
Lennox beat Vitali, that's what happened.
Usyk beat Joshua, that's what happened.
I thought Fury was better in the first Wilder fight but in reality it's still a draw and always will be.
Just because you don't "like" a result doesn't mean it isn't historic fact.

I had it 8-4 for Kov.

Ward did will in the 2nd half of the fight to make it messy and try and close the gap, but it wasn't like he swpt the championship rounds - not watched it in a while but that was my recollection.

Ward was the most suprised when he got the nod - he knew he had lost

7-5 either way was fine. All 3 judges having it 114-113 was completely reasonable.

Ward winning actually ruined both his and Kovalev's legacies. Anytime Ward pops his head up, people shout "Kovalev won", and rightfully so. Anytime Kovalev is mentioned, people shout "Vodkalev, fades in fights, 4 losses" etc. I think if Kovalev got the decision he should have he may still have gone off the rails, and Ward may have beat him in the rematch. This would give BOTH fighters a better resume and legacy than they have now.

Instead people think Ward is a privileged fake who shouldn't be undefeated and Kovalev is a drunken glass jaw glass nuts puncher with mediocre skills.

Imagine if North America's best fighters often had to travel to Eastern Europe or Central Asia for world title fights or base themselves over in those places and were fighting the top EE/Central Asian fighters over in their countries with EE/Central Asian refs and three EE/Central Asian judges and on the rare occasions the EE/Central Asian fighters did travel for world title fights all the officials came from neutral countries or at worst they had a home judge, one from their opponent's country, and one neutral one

And imagine the biblical outrage there would be is said America fighters kept getting robbed and they still continued appointing three EE/Central Asian judges for world title fights between them and EE/Central Asian fighters most or all of the time afterwards

    Just rewatched it:
    Round 1: Kovalev
Nothing really happened in the first half until Ward started landing his body jabs, to which Kovalev responded with a stiff jab right on the face of Ward, clearly rocking him. Pretty even round.
    Round 2: Kovalev + KD
Clear Kovalev round even without the KD.
    Round 3: Kovalev
Ward tackling, lol. **** him for trying to pick up Kovalevs leg. Complete BS. Close round.
    Round 4: Ward
    Round 5: Ward

Close, but IMO the first clear round for Ward.
    Round 6: Kovalev
    Round 7: Ward

By far the best round for Ward thus far. Landed a lot of nasty bodyshots.
    Round 8: Ward
Body punching is making the difference. Ward also landed a nice elbow and headbutt. Shame Kovalev never complained to the ref.
    Round 9: Ward
Kovalev showing fatigue more and more.
    Round 10: Kovalev
Kovalev´s jab made a comeback. Rare to see two such high level boxers jab each other the way they just did. Greatness on display.
    Round 11: Ward
    Round 12: Ward

    7-5 Ward.
Again. Can see it 6-6 or 7-5 for Kovalev.
Ward walked away with the hard earned victory.

Fair points, except the last part. Fury was unlucky on the first Wilder fight but he got away in the first McDermott fight and the Ngannou match. He’s hardly the kind of guy who gets robbed.

I agree with this, I simply wanted to pool what others think.

Kovalev by every metric. Blatant robbery.

I watched it the next day repeat on Sky from round 4 onwards and had Ward winning

Watched it again a few days later and had the fight a draw.

I'll watch it again. I think I was influenced by being a Ward fan and how Kovalev faded badly down the stretch.

    Ward won against Kovalev.

    Golovkin won against Canelo.

    That's what I saw.

    114-113 Ward.

And before I get pounced on, pre-fight I thought Kovalev was going to win and personally had Kovalev as P4P # 1, so I wasn't necessarily pulling for a Ward win, I was a fan of both.

I scored it 114-113 like the judges exactly once in my lifetime, and you have to stick to an extremely specific and generous line of through to get there.
