The around %10 who went for Canelo are in good Company...%10 of people in the World believe the World is Flat...And %10 of People in the World believe the Moon landing was Fake.!!!
I scored the first fight for Canelo and the second fight for Golovkin. I know, inverse of what most people believe. I thought both fights were close and don't argue with anyone with who they thought won.
Very plausible and refreshing viewpoint to see on this forum. The first time Canelo just outboxed and outclassed GGG, made him miss his shots, used GGG's aggressiveness against him setting traps and landed the better shots round after round aside from a some of the middle rounds. In the rematch GGG was beaten to a pulp round after round and Canelo started his destruction of GGG early with the come-forward "Mexican-Style" approach that GGG asked for. GGG though had his bike ready and held his own mitigating the damage in the first round and again the 4th round. But he couldn't stop Canelo in rounds 2, 3, 5 and 6 from inflicting significant damage and winning those rounds clearly and emphatically so in any interpretation Canelo was out to a big lead on the scorecard in the rematch, meaning GGG had to make a comeback in the 2nd half of the match. GGG tried to rally late but he was a pummeled beaten fighter by the end. The constant barrage of power punching from Canelo took its toll, and GGG's face showed the wounds of war. GGG fought admirably down the stretch against the unrelenting pressure from Canelo, G was using his boxing skills to out land Canelo with jabs despite not being able to compete with Canelo's power punching. GGG fought hard though, he kept rounds close and won some of those late rounds so you could argue he edged enough rounds down the stretch to eek out a victory. I personally thought Canelo won the first match more clearly and more impressively than he won the rematch in. So from that standpoint, we agree that Canelo did better vs GGG the first time, which as you say is the inverse of what most people believe. But it is good to find someone who agrees that Canelo won the first match as I've maintained this position to the disagreement of most of this forum. The difference for me is that Canelo inflicted far more damage on GGG and landed far more clean punches on GGG in the rematch than GGG inflicted or landed on Canelo in the first match. While you can make the argument that GGG won either fight, Canelo was the one who landed the more significant, impactful and telling shots in both matches. The first time he did it by using footwork and sublime boxing skill, setting traps for GGG, making him miss and making him pay with big counters. The 2nd time he did it by consistent Mexican Style come forward aggressive power punching. While GGG boxed much better in the rematch (in the first match GGG looked like a clueless amateur chasing Canelo around and eating shots) he aborbed too many big clean punches and didn't land enough hard leather of his own in his backwards bike riding to realistically argue that he won. But either way I respect your viewpoint, it is refreshing to hear someone who sees it different than the majority.
Actually no. The thread is bookmarked on my PC and I stumbled across it again. Then I thought "I bet if I bump this, Shadow will appear." And so you did, like Hannibal Lecter jumping out of a closet
