I was an adult wayyyyyy before you were even conceived sonny. Namecalling, or ad hominem, is an indication that you have no valid argument to prove what I said is untrue, It is considered flawed thinking and makes you a certifiably undereducated. Now THAT"s a fact! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem BTW The first letter of a word starting a sentence is always capitalized. You don't need to be an adult to know that. You only need to have attended Grade School and paid some attention. So it's "Back off....."not "back off".... Neither is "grown up" the same as "grownup".
I have posted my personal score card on a thread already. I dont think canelo won at all. I have it as a draw.
Canelo got outlanded by 50 punches by the bigger puncher. Look I'm not trying to knock him he exceeded my expectations and it was a fun fight. But if you're going to be the "boxer" you can't get outlanded in 10 of 12 rounds by the more aggressive fighter. Most sites have picked GGG as the winner. So has Teddy Atlas, Dan Rafael, Harold Lederman (who I see in your posts you are no fan of) but all the ppl can't be wrong. Almost nobody has Canelo winning. Yet he got a 10-2 card from one of the judges. Come on. Face facts. This was the business side of the sport talking. Canelo gave a great effort but he lost. I respect what he tried to do in there but he doesn't fight often enough each round and when you got a tank coming at you - you gotta try and Outland the guy stick and move not get outlanded overall and in 10 of 12 rounds. 8-4 of 7-5 Triple G
I have it as a draw. Canelo should have fought the full 3 minutes of every round. But I dont think lost either.
I like this poll. It gives me a nice list of the 8% of completely worthless opinions I can put on ignore.
enjoyed the fight, that's the quality you get when two decent fighters are matched. its a shame the correct score wasn't given though. Golovkin clearly won, his effective aggression in the mid rounds did it for me, I think he also evened out the 12th as well after Canelo's initial success. Although Canelo did great as well this doesn't mean GGG shouldn't have got the win he deserved. It still would have set up the next fight nicely. hate draws, especially when there is no draw, one of those score needs investigation, it was clearly suspect and affected the overall result.
Golovkin got hit with the bigger punches last night on account of not rolling with shots like Canelo and not throwing to the body like Canelo. It's biased to say otherwise. Golovkin landed more punches. Lederman and Rafael blindly score aggression. Teddy Atlas pushes an agenda about corruption and attention whores off it (see Pac-Horn) . You couldn't have found three more predictable reactions. I think 7-5 to 5-7 is the most reasonable range of scores.
you sound like a man depending on compubox to decide a winner. FYI a fight is scored by rounds (throw 700 punches one round and thats it you won that round not the fight) canelo rested rounds 7 & 9 throwing nothing so according to your compubox scorring he not only lost those round but an accumilation the whole fight. bad idea.
This is very similar to the Kovalev Ward fight in that the guy making the fight is the aggressive come-forward guy who is not only throwing more but landing more too. I feel aggression and mastery of the ring ought to be rewarded in a boxing match. You want to counter? Fine, but make sure you land more and better punches. Alvarez' moments were exciting, but they were still only a minute of each round. The rest of the time he was getting tagged with the jab, covering on the ropes or running. If you feel passivity should be rewarded in a fight then here is a true classic for you: This content is protected You're welcome. If only every fight could be like that!
Fair point on the the bigger punches being landed by Canelo because Triple G absorbed them rather than roll with them but they had no effect on GGG. GGG bossed the fight no other way to see it for me. He dictated the fight. I disagree about Rafael blindly judging by aggression he has never done that. If memory serves he was one of the very few that had Hopkins edge Calzaghe. He also routinely defended Mayweather. Boxnation in UK also had GGG winning stating Canelo needed a Ko in final round. Teddy does cry corruption all the time but when one judge has 10-2 to the person most ppl feel lost he has that right. Stephen Smith (who is horrible at boxing) sided with him and said Byrd needs to be investigated. I thought it was good fight and Canelo had moments but wasn't consistent and GGG was, judges got it wrong imo. And Byrd's card tells me it was corruption not incompetence
Byrd's card was inexcusable and she shoukd be fired bc she has a history of this. Rafael does have his favorites, usually agressive fighters with power. I recall Hopkins moving forward against Calzaghe. It's true that GGG was never seriously hurt by Caenlo but I think it's sonewhat arbitrary. A picture perfect punch counts for more in terms of scoring than punches that are rolled with. I also think the majority of those who identify as boxing fans were rooting for GGG, as in, fans who would actually keep a scorecard.
