Stone cold tough *******. I have rarely seen a beating more one sided then Rocky Lockridge beating the living **** **** out of poor Barry. Barry never went off his feet though, but retired on his stool with a broken nose and buster ear drum.

I have "Lockridge-Michaels" from 1984 or '85 on tape.... I never review the fight, but it was back when national TV was still sizzlin' with world class fights on a regular basis........ CBS, NBC & ABC really put out back in the early to mid 1980s...... By the early 1990s, cable TV had taken over......

    Note:

ESPN has always been gay....... USA was bad too, but, I enjoyed it more so on Tuesday nights that were slow......

A very talented former super featherweight title holder who had a head like a brick. I don't think he was ever knocked off his feet - certainly never KOed - both his loss stoppages were TKOs.

Was fortunate enough to have been present at the stadium when he won his world title from fellow Aussie Lester Ellis - not a pretty fight but a 15 round war none-the-less!

Michaels' won absolute wars with Lester Ellis (IBF world title), the previously unbeaten 'Earthquake' Carter and Aussie legend 'Tank' Ropis (national title). These were the standouts to me in what was a long and fruitful career that included national, Commonwealth & world titles.

The good news is that, in retirement and in his early 50's, Michaels is still fit and sharp.

He's definately Australia's most unappreciated fighter of the last 50 years.

Didn't Carter have something like 23 knockouts in 25 wins? Real banger.

I'm imagining cement head took them in stride.

Bazza was one tough cookie..truly amazing his ability to soak it up. No shame in getting the pissed kicked out of you by Lockridge..that list of names is long.

I think 21 KO's against 1 loss. Ol' 'cement head' took a barrage better than Fenech ever could.
