This fight is a disgrace and I'm genuinely worried for Ngumbu's health, he is a small 37 year old who has never been more than a fringe contender, and he's fighting arguably the most dangerous man in boxing? I hate this fight.
Top Rank keeps on making these mismatches, wasting their fighters' careers with meaningless opponents. Crawford too has been fighting journeymen, and now will face faded chinny Khan, despite having a mandatory and there being several very good welterweights to choose from. Fury, instead of a rematch with Wilder, will be fighting someone who has never beaten a single top 50 opponent, despite there being many better heavyweights available. There are many good light heavyweights Gvozdyk could be fighting instead of Ngumbu, for example his WBC mandatory.
Arum seems to only want to make in house fights. He isn't working with DAZN / PBC fighters very often. He does work with Queensbury a bit but they have a deal with ESPN
Do you really feel this way? We're you picked on and beat up a lot? Not attacking you, genuinely interested in why you enjoy watching severe and one-sided violence so much? And **** like that -- makes the sport look bad.
This truly is a joke of a fight and Gvozdyk -- along with countless other "champions" -- should be fighting a much better and more deserving opponent. I'm aactually a fan of Gvozdyk's boxing, but this is such a farce I'll be rooting against him here.
Not a big fan of the fight at all, Gvozdyk will surely fight a top 5 opponent after this, its a keep busy fight.
No, not a fan of Gvozdyk's, I'm openly biased against most fighters from former Soviet countries. I said I was a fan of his boxing, I like his skills and talent and can really be a joy to watch -- at times. I'm a fan of boxing and have put a lot into the sport myself so I'll always be able to watch, appreciate, nd enjoy legit talent and skills, among many other things.
I rarely see the point in supporting a fighter who is a no hoper unless youve supported him from day one, or you from the same nation as him. Supporting gvozdyk is good for boxing.
Yep it’s a keep busy fight and all champs have them. Let’s just enjoy watching another systematic destruction by the best 175er in the world.
We've seen worse mismatches before. Ngumbu gets his doudou punched in, but I think he makes it into the championship rounds, like Stevenson.
