Maybe??? But the fact is Margarito is always a slow starter and always dominate in the later rounds . . . the Williams fight and Cotto figt should prove this. :deal
Doesn't this theory also invalidate Margarito and his supporters' complaint about Margo' own 'injured' hand. After all, he did throw a RECORD number of punches in that fight. :think
Margarito didn't hurt his hand. He sprained an ankle (badly) weeks before the fight and injured his wrist on the right hand. http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-article/4730/margarito-clottey-williams-cotto/
i remember clottey being interviewed after the margo fight and he said he was fine "it was just a bruised knuckle he said".......****en margo showed his ****en ****ed up hand and a week before that he had hurt his ankle.....but i dont expect ya'll to know that, i mean you guys dont really watch fights now do ya.
That's not my allegation, I can't really help you with that. From what I understood Margarito had sprained his ankle prior to the fight and injured his wrist during the fight itself. Regardless, pain doesn't seem to bother Margarito very much. Safe to say, yes? Besides, Margarito never indicated he had an injury that would impair his output - Clottey did. When Clottey started his hurt hand performance he wasn't throwing at all, with either hand. He looked like he was sulking in frustration realizing he couldn't hurt Margarito after landing some monsterous shots. Then Clottey went back to incessant work with his "injured" hand throwing it with full power - in the late rounds in particular.
I saw the fight, but dont buy the Clottey excuse of an injured hand..... .....not that I doubt that his hand was injured, but I doubt the severity of the injury. Clottey was still using the injured hand after the alleged injury occured, but was using it less less frequently......he was using both hands less frequently as a matter of fact, and its the result of Margarito just wearing on him. The injury was caused during the fight on Margarito's hard head to begin with, if they fought again, he'd likely injure it again the same way! :yep ......and beside guys, Margarito I think most would agree has become a better fighter now.....and a rematch with Clottey seeing as Clottey did give him a competitive fight, would find Margarito taking him alot more seriously than he did when they first met...... .....believe me, Margarito was'nt in the same shape for Clottey, that he was for Cotto. Certain fighters you go that extra mile and work extra hard in the Gym for. Knowing how hard a nut Clottey was to crack the first time around, Margarito is likely to go that extra mile if there was ever a rematch.
Comments from BOXREC - Margarito suffered from a severe sprained ankle only a week before the bout, and also had problems with his left shoulder as reported days before the fight. - Clottey suffered an injured left hand in round four, probably while landing a left uppercut. He immediately went into retreat and told his corner at the break. - Showtime reported this live, explaining why Clottey proceded to lose rounds five through eleven on all three official scorecards. - Clottey later admitted his hand was not broken as initially reported. - Margarito threw 1675 punches
Even the gaywads with the rainbow flag is more pleasant, though at least you aren't taking the soft route, you have chosen the nastiest avatar to sport lol.
Clottey was dominating the first 4 rounds, but he claims to have hurt his hand and after that, thats when Margarito took over. But Margarito also broke his hand in the fight I believe and that didn't slow him down at all.
How come team Margo has not mentioned rematching Clottey? Clottey says he wants it. Margo's manager mentioned Tony fighting Judah provided that Judah wins, but no mention of Clottey. Perhaps the risk/reward factor is the reason.
Yeah he never mentions a rematch against a guy who took his belt and still has it either. He glazed over the 'Paul Williams' question like he didn't even hear it. Risk/Reward definitely plays a part. What happened to this Warrior mentality?
