Tua looked good. Ahunanya has a great chin and was in defensive mode for most of the fight. Tua's stock does not suffer from this performance as the TS seems to be implying.

from above video, tua looks allright. good handspeed, good reflexes still, not best foot speed, still too flabby imo, power maybe off (but could be more do to friday as already said). Friday looked pretty good too, like a solid fringe type HW in this **** era. didn't see too much that would trouble a klit at this point

Yeah he looked good. he was bobbing and weaving well and using his hook very well too. I can't say if he's back though... Clearly he won a wide deciscion... It seemed like Friday took Tua's hook very well. Then again Friday has a pretty good chin. Tua did hurt Friday, but he couldn't put him down. I guess it's a good win. Still, if he fights some of the top contenders, I don't think he'll do very well..

As a ringside observer, what do you think of the comment below. I found it on an online sports handicapping website that includes several well known boxing gurus on their staff. Does this criticism of Tua's recent performances seem realistic to you, based on what you saw? Obviously the Tua who fought in '07 and '08, against vastly inferior opposition, was overweight and unfocused, and subsequently looked like crap. But is the Tua that you saw in person a revitalized fighter?

"In recent bouts Tua has looked sloppy both physically and technically. Tua may have the edge in strength but he is much shorter than Barrett and has developed a bad habit of throwing arm punches. Tua also seems to have lost practically all of the hand speed that once made him such a dangerous puncher."

    Well put.

That's dog ****. What complete hack of a boxing analyst wrote that?

If it was in reference to Tua from a few years ago, that's one thing. To say that of his last two performance is just ridiculous. That person is obviously a bonehead.

Tua doesn't look like a world-beater (specifically, he doesn't look like a Klitschko-beater), but he looks much better than he has in years. The handspeed didn't go anywhere, he's just more selective with his power punches and as a result, more accurate with them.

Styles make fights. Tua was never going to KO Friday like he did with Cameron. His hand speed was there with Cameron. And with Friday at times. His power will be there against Barrett. Can he beat a Klit right now? I don't think so. He's still developing. So he KO's Barrett, KO's a Barrett look-a-like, and then fights Peter or Arreola. By then, we'll know a lot more about David Tua's chances against Klit.

His handspeed is still good but he still doesnt throw the high right hand nearly enough IMO, they can still circle away from his left hook with near impunity.
That really lets him down against the top guys and even against Ahunanya, if he hed been able to sling a high right hand to the head to stop him circling and follow up with his left hook, timberrrr

    There are three options, really:

    1) The person who wrote that is responsible for odds across a variety of sports, and doesn't really follow boxing but superficially, and hasn't even seen Tua or Barrett fight recently. That whole paragraph smacks of "Boxrec warrior".

    2) They're trying to sucker people into placing bets on Barrett, so the house can win.

    3) Whoever wrote that actually saw the recent Tua fights and sincerely believes what they wrote, making them an absolute idiot.
