Whoever scored that fight for Tarver cannot score ****.

He flurried in rounds and tried to pinch them, he went through a spell in the middle of the fight where he was inactive, he probably lost all the championship rounds to.

Jones won this fight clearly imo. It was close but you knew who had won.

The decision was fair. Tarver spent too many rounds doing nothing, staring at Jones.

I scored the fight as a draw at the time. Having rewatched it numerous times I can see how you can score it for Jones 7 rounds to 5 but no way did Tarver do enough to actually get a decision he simply switched off for too many rounds and simply didn't do enough.

Though at the end of the fight I had the impression Jones had dug deep while Tarver still had plently left in the tank and had thrown away an opportunity to clearly beat Jones and could have easily won had he simply pushed himself.

See thats one of the main reasons I didnt give it to Tarver

Ill probably have another look but I watched it too long ago and was thinking Jones is knackered, hes there for the taking, but Tarver just walks about the ring throwing hardly any punches for long stretches of the fight.

I really think he got out - thought a lot too, Jones didnt have a lot of energy so he fought pretty slowly but boxing the better for most of the round thne Tarver would have a little flurry at the end but it wasnt enough to give the rounds to tarver for me.

The crowd and commentators can fool you as well, they all talk jones down because they expect a superman performance and he doesnt deliver but hes still doing better than his opponent for most of the fight.

I think if Tarver had been more aggressive hed have won by KO.

The crowd are the worst judges of fights, because they get caught up in the emotion. Plus they look at the fight as who is winning the rounds more convincingly. What they forget is not matter how big a round is won there is still a winner and a loser.

Tarver won the rounds he won bigger than Jones won the round he won, but numerically he did not win as many, that is why the crowd get a distorted view of the fight. Also factor in that Jones had NEVER been tested or pushed the way Tarver was able to push him.

Smoke screen. Jones won the fight clearly.

Stats only tell half the story... I scored 6 rds each & had Tarver winning his rds more convincingly & Tarver is FAR from my favourite fighter, he`s boring as ****.
