Please excuse my ignorance but who selects the refs for bouts? Who is responsible for their payment ? (legal payment).

I'd say the sanctioning body ie WBA or ibf but I'm sure bbboc would have a say maybe.just guessing though

Just hoping that promotors have zero influence on the selection, although that may be a bit naive.

The promoters don't have a choice of the judges or ref etc. The board or boxing organizations like the IBF choose I'm pretty sure. Even though I know 100% that Hearn hasn't got anything to do with the recent controversial decisions. I imagine in the past in smaller fights and stuff that promoters and people have gave money to refs and judges to fix fights. If you look on twitter Uberfacts which is always right put "Boxing is considered the easiest sport for gamblers to fix". Says it all really....

I don't know pal, but I still can't believe a British referee can be involved in a World title fight involving a Brit, let alone two... haven't seen anyone else even complaining or voicing an opinion on this too.
