Let's assume no Parker rematch, or that he loses the rematch.

I don't think he can get too bad an opponent; he needs to keep interest and immediately signal to his fans hes still top level. Clearly it's got to be a British fighter, to keep his base engaged.

I think the weakest, semi credible opponent would be Price, especially if Price somehow doesn't completely embarrass himself against Sasha.

Chisora might be the most likely opponent. A Whyte rematch would make sense, although slightly risky as a fight coming immediately off a loss.

Personally, I think Haye would be the perfect opponent. It would probably draw as much interest in GB as any fight he's ever had, even with no belt on the line. A win would immediately signal he's back to contention for a belt. And while Hayes devoted fan base would disagree, it really wouldn't be that risky, certainly less so than Whyte. Haye hasn't beaten a top 10 HW (really not even a top 50 hw) since 2012, and his style relies on speed and reflexes, things that his age, inactivity, and injuries all suggest are vastly diminished.

Gotta go with Whyte, his spirits will be very low defeat will hit him very hard, he does say he accepts he will lose sooner or later and most all time greats at heavy did in thier careers but that 1st loss with the belts gone too will be a crippler for him, especially if Parker does a bit of a number on him. That last Whyte fight he really didnt stick to his fundimentals and had a bit of fun in there although he tightened up a bit after getting wobbled. But its familiar territory for him as a come back fight and he enjoyed it and its still a big fight, over here at least.

I hope Haye retires after Bellew, Price is getting destroyed in a couple of days, i dont think Chisora would fancy it, Audley who? Not Harrison?

Then again would it be a bad time to dip your toe into the USA and fight Miller at MSG or something? Does he need to be trying to break that country on a high rather than after a loss and beltless?

    1. Ortiz
    2. Haye if he beats Bellew

I think Wilder vs Whyte is next so I dont think Whyte will be available. Ortiz or Haye would line up nicely.

there is definatley a rematch clause so it will require 2 losses

if that is the case and he loses twice to parker then his stock diminishes greatly and he will get a gimmee .

He's NOT losing back to back to a Parker, not even a remote chance. Stop the nonsense. IsIt like asking me if I should fight Spence or Thurman for my first pro fight

Good argument, you kinda convinced me re Whyte.

And yeah, I jokingly listed Audley Harrison. Kinda meant as a stand in for a true lower level, journeyman hw like Sexton etc, which I don't think would be acceptable. I think that's the type of fighter Fury will face next, though.

I don't think he can or should try to break into a new country off a loss. Better to build up his base again and go international from a position of strength.

Don't you think Ortiz would be too risky coming straight off a loss?

This. They definitely have a rematch clause that will kick in if Joshua loses. But, if he loses back to back against Parker his stock goes in the toilet.

Not even a remote chance? Come on man, you know there are no absolutes in boxing! You say 0% chance Parker comes out light and fast, with a gameplan AJ has trouble with and beats him? Leading in to a rematch still a 0%? Lets be fair here.

I am not saying Parker is the favorite or anything, but I think he has about as good of a chance as old Wlad if he comes in fit and injury free.
