Who should Anderson Silva fight next?

Silva needs to fight old school UFC style. 3 fights per night, Belfort, Lombard and Wideman. I would be surprised if all three even lasts 5 minutes tbh.

 

He should fight GSP or Jones that would be the best but he seems content at MW but CW has been out for a while Rockhold seems like a decent shout but Belfort has slowly earned his way back into title contention but i would still like to see someone like Bisping getting his title shot and destroyed cuz everyone know that almost whoever you put in there with Silva will be an execution

 

Who should he fight ? Anyone, just get something concrete going. If hes not going to fight Jones or GSP then fight Rockhold, Jacare or Weidman. I look forward to the Spider beatdown !!

Chris Weidman should probably be next. But Spider isn't about to lose to anyone.

 

Jones....but he's busy with sonnen unfortunately. not convinced rockhold is worthy with a very debatable win over jacare and wins over kennedy and a drained and past it jardine. would want weidman but with the injury, he may want/need a tuneup. wouldn't mind seeing if belfort could learn from his last chance and he's arguably the most qualified (off recent destruction of bisping and a good win over rumble). like to see spider stay active, so i'd say belfort is best option and would watch lombard or jacare even tho they aren't that highly deserving at this particular time (tho who really is and is ready)

Munoz > Jacare: Munoz was top-3 at the time and undoubtedly the top contender.

Maia > Kennedy: Maia's a former title challenger with decent scalps (Sonnen, Herman, Miller and the UFC's favorite Journeyman, Nate Quarry). Kennedy was competitive with Souza but his best actual win was Lawler or Manhoef.

And we'll just call their UFC veteran opponents even (albeit it's a bit of a stretch).

But just thinking aloud. I don't mind a Silva/Rockhold showdown.

Munoz was horribly overrated if he was 'top 3' and the no.1 contender.

 

But he was. The middleweight division has always been one of the weakest. Stann lost to Bisping, Bisping lost to Sonnen, Sonnen had just lost to Silva, Belfort and Okami (1-3) had lost to Silva in '11, Shields was at 170, Palhares lost to Belcher, Belcher was making noise but had just two fights since returning from his eye injury, Boetsch was unimpressive against Lombard (as was Lombard), Rockhold was in Strikeforce, and Weidman was about to shed his prospect label against Munoz.

Munoz hadn't lost decisively since 2009 and that was against Hamill at 205lbs and had won 7 of his last 8 (the loss being a close split decision to Okami). There was huge speculation that Munoz was to receive a title shot if he beat Leben (over a year before he even met Weidman). Leben, who was still a hot commodity (had won 4 out of his last 5 - including desolating Wanderlei and pulling out 2 wins in 2 weeks (Simpson, Akiyama)).

Not to mention, at the time, Munoz's Donkey Kong power and (overrated) wrestling was thought to be a big stylistic matchup for Anderson Silva.
