Both companies seem intent on putting on a PPV how, in Vegas, on September 15th. Obviously it would be foolish for this to happen. Both have been talking about staging a fight on that day for months. Someone is going to have to back off. Which company should back off the date?

TOP RANK had the date first!

Martinez/Chavez was locked in for Sep. 15th way back in February. . .

Arum is right on this one.

Bob Arum should do all of us a favor and have his corrupt fights on another day.

Well Top Rank RESERVED the date first. GBP trying to be sneaky in ANNOUNCING their fight first. But Ortiz hasnt even beat Lopez yet? Kinda lame move by GBP, i say they should move their date. The only ones theyre screwing over if they keep the date are boxing fans.

Here's the thing though, remember when Mayweather reserved May 5th? What did Arum say? He said reserving a venue means nothing. He claimed anyone could do it, and it held little significance. You can't lock in a fight before it's signed anyway.

Personally, I think GBP should back down. I only say that though because I believe the Martinez/Chavez fight is the bigger fight.

Golden Boy should move to October 6 and I'm sure they will.

Date has been lined up for Sergio vs Chavez since March. It's also the bigger fight and I love Canelo vs Ortiz

Well Arum was wrong that time then. . .

Martinez/Chavez was signed. . . On the condition of Chavez beating Lee. . . Signed a long time ago. . . Everybody knew that fight was supposed to be happening on Sep 15th since hte beginning of the year. . .

ORtiz/Canelo being on Sep. 15th just came about in recent weeks.

In fairness i think GBP should move their date. But ill still watch their card over Top Rank. GBP puts on better fights and better cards and Canelo Ortiz you just cant miss. Also who knows if Chavez vs Martinez is really going to happen. It could just be hot air and watch them put Chavez vs someone else in his PPV debut. But if Ortiz gets by Lopez, we are sure Canelo Ortiz goes down. So this is a tough one. Oh well lets see how i plays out. I think GBP wont budge. Not sure what Top Rank does

That's true, but it's been known that they wanted Canelo to return on that date for quite some time now. Unfortunately, his opponents kept getting hurt.

Ortiz fights Saturday. An extra 3 weeks rest will certainly help him after essentially two full training camps before a tuneup.

Also, lets be honest, the few independence day buys they lose will be less significant than missed buys for people tuning into Sergio's slaughter house.

    Lets see ...

    Top Rank >>> GBP

    Martinez-Chavez Jr. >>> Canelo-Ortiz

Thomas & Mack <<< MGM Grand

    HBO >>> Showtime

So it's 3 to 1 in favor of Top Rank. GBP should back out.

    GBP, clearly.

And I sure as hell don't support Top Rank in the least. Martinez-Chavez is a ****in fight though. :deal

GBP should back down. People are more interested on the Chavez vs Martinez fight. Fans want to see which warrior is more macho. The Mexicano or the Argentinian.
