It is a hard call because their resumes have verry different strengths.

Foreman arguably has the two best wins in the history of the heavyweight division, but the depth of his resume is verry poor.

Lewis is verry strong on depth, but lacks high quality wins by comparison, and has some bad losses.

In short you could argue it either way.

Lewis and it isn't close, Lewis dominated for 10years cleaning out a great division and beating every man he faced.

Foreman record against Ring Ranked Opponents (ranked when he faced them) is pretty bad from what I can see, it works out something like 4-2 in his first career (correct me if I missed 1 or 2), and something like 1-3 in his second career (correct me if I missed any)

I've got Lewis ahead by 2-6 places depending on the time of month.

Foreman has the more shocking names on his resume with Frazier and Moorer (if only because he was 45), but during both reigns as champions, he took soft touches, was very inactive, and didn't hold the belts for very long. The best name on his resume from his actual title reign is Ken Norton.

Lennox's dominance as champion and better skill set makes me rank him higher. Having names like Tua, Grant, Golota, Holyfield (x2), and Vitali also help to offset any advantage Foreman may have resume-wise.

Janitor has made some excellent points.

Though I like Foreman, I would have to say Lewis. But not by much.

George Foreman ranks Rocky Marciano and Jack Dempsey ahead of himself on his all time heavyweight list.

    Is he dumb or wicked?

First off, good job leaving off Vitali. No answer for a washed up Lennox TKOing someone who is at least the second best fighter of this current era?

Say what you will about the state of Holyfield, Golota, Grant, or Tua, but Lennox beat them all rather handily. You'd be hard pressed to make the case that Ken Norton, the best name from Foreman's title reign, would beat any of those men. The fact is, regardless of what you think of the division Lennox ruled, Lennox still cleaned it out. Foreman never did in either era he fought in.

I'm aware that every fighter takes soft touches. My point is that during Foreman's title reign, he only beat one hall of famer in Ken Norton.

Lennox struggled with Bruno and Briggs? Well he knocked the hell out of Briggs, something (albeit, very, very old and no longer hungry) Foreman could not do, though he did deserve the decision. I seem to recall Foreman struggling with Lightheavyweight Gregorio Peralta and Alex Stewart. So get over it. No ATG has dominated every opponent and if you expect them to, then you're top 10 list must look rather barren.

Lennox was incredibly fast for a big man with a top 5 jab, good power in his right, and a good uppercut. If you rank purely on power, it'd be difficult to rank anyone higher than Foreman, I do concede that. As for his prime, he was much better at cutting off the ring but that's offset by his poor stamina and looping shots. Same with physical strength, it's hard to name many heavyweights who beat the anomaly that is Foreman. But if you load your criteria on what are Foreman's best attributes (strength and punching power), then well, yeah, he should be top 3, probably the GOAT.

When did I ever mention Marciano? Or Dempsey? Or Johnson? Or Tunney?

It's clear you got some major issues with a lot of posters' opinions here. However, I'm fairly certain that we're not all cocaine addicts, dumb dumbs, or responsible for the current condition of "this country" (btw, I'm in Mexico, so I'm not sure how I'm responsible for this deterioration you feel is occurring). I can't really tell why you feel the need to project your dissatisfaction with the state "this country" by rallying against the posters here, but it's hardly necessary and if it makes you ill to converse with people having divergent opinions, it's probably not best for you to be on what is a highly subjective boxing website.

Lewis. Even Foreman himself said that he didn't think that on his best day that he could beat Lennox Lewis.
