stop dawson??? Joe couldnt stop my grandmother! he hasnt had a legit ko since 2005 and that was super mid againest a stiff named mario veit. Look, i love calzaghe, but this no way he ko's dawson. He may win by dec but not ko
If he is to fight on he should be looking to collect a few belts at light-heavy, thus Dawson is his only option. Meanwhile, Froch should got to America and tackle Talyor, with the winner coming to wales for Joes farewell fight (provided he beats Dawson of course).
Dawson or retire. Although I edge toward retire cause if he beats Dawson then another young buck will be thrown out there as "the one" to beat JoCal. I think Dawson is the only one that will give JoCal the required stimulus to bother training.
#1) Dawson makes the most sense to me. He's had some good wins, is seen as big talent, undefeated. #2) Hopkins in UK. It would be a much more exciting fight than the first. I think Hopkins is embarrased with his survival performance, especially after the way he handled Pavlik. He will come to fight for a while but will be worn down to a nub. Calz. was much more adjusted and conditioned for LHW against Jones, and he'll be much sharper against Hopkins this time around. I actually think Calz. may call Hopkins bluff but it will fall through because of Hopkins.
I dont tink he should fight anyone,he got his legacy now,he undefeated, has beaten both hopkins (who then went on to beat kelly pavlik to prove he not passed it) and jones.calzaghe getting on himself age wise and i dont he needs to risk fighting on to prove anything.Althiough saying that i would like to see a fight beaten him and dawson and also to fight to froch(if he doesnt fight froch, froch will continue to say he avoidin him)
Just so. Since Joe beat Hopkins he will be viewed as better than, not equal to, Bernard. As to the poll, Calzaghe should fight Dawson. Hopkins should fight Kessler.
What makes you say that friend? Nice post. I agree with most of this. It seems you only get a rematch if your name is Mario Veit. Apparently knocking someone out in the first round is conducive to a rematch but a close SD fight with a legend is not. Oh the irony.
Yeah poor Joe. He's completely exonerated from blame when it comes to the lack of recognition he got during his WBO reign of terror.
either Dawson or johnson...i would prefer dawson just because it wouldnt be about money it would be about proving a point..something he hasnt done since the lacy fight
I dunno, I think he'd demolish Dawson, whose being overhyped because beat a sluggish Tarver. I think Kessler would beat Dawson but that would be a more sensible fight for him than to take on Calzaghe. Hopkins II is probably the most intriguing contest out of the lot.
You are seriously deluded if you believe Calzaghe will be held in as high a regard as Hopkins. Joe's career has been built around maintaining his "0". I have no real issue with that but only the mainstream public are fooled by this. I agree with the second part though. It's just a shame Kessler is being held prisoner by Palle. A fight between the two fighters Joe holds in less regard than Mario Veit would be very interesting.
If Joe fights on I dont think he should sit and wait aroung for Dawson to beat Tarver again. He would need a fight in the prelim, personally id like to see Joe fight Taylor, but wouldnt quibble if he outclassed Glen Johnson instead.
