Mares was offered the April date with Donaire. Arum said the offer doubled Mares' previous high payday. Schaefer is on the record saying $1 million was a "low-ball" offer. My gut feeling is Mares would have accepted but that offer probably never made it to him. Just 'seen' an interview where all he talks about is the GBP offer. Never mentions the TR offer at all and talks about a counter offer like the April date was never in play before. GBP giving him the mushroom treatment?

You've spent most of the past week claiming Top Rank was negotiating with Espinoza and that Schaefer had nothing to do with it and had nothing to do with any negotiations at all since he had the gall to say things publicly. Now he's intercepted the contract and kept Mares from ever seeing it?

Where are you getting the doubled payday for Mares? All Arum has said is that it was a reasonable offer as well.

Dude please stop...everybody gets it, you're the Top Rank stan who justifies your self rightous bias as some sort of noble cause. "fighting the good fight" against GBP and it's supporters...but you've taken it to an idiotic, irrational level and only the other trolls give a **** anymore. I think you're a smart dude, I enjoy debating with you generally speaking, but you've got to a level of idiocy that discredits any legitimate ideas you may have once held. Your position on this is stupid bottom line...the contract was posted, supported by most respectable media outlets, echoed by the Mares camp, just because you pretend not to hear it, doesn't make it any less true.

Mares deserves it more. Rigo is also good but he lacks the competition both Donaire and Mares have in their own.

Rigondeaux would be a competition between 2 superior boxers, but Mares would be more exciting

I say Mares vs Rigondeaux first, winner gets Donaire (they can be like the Fab 3 at 122)

Oh? I have not seen one other source that supports it as a legitimate contract. They merely reposted it. You have a link?

Rigondeaux is the better fighter, and matches up more favorably against Donaire.

Mares is the more proven and "deserving" based on resume.

Flat out wrong. I said Espinoza was middling for GBP. I never said Schaefer wasn't involved. That was based on media reports mainly from Espinoza. Seen the article where Arum said double. I don't know Mares' previous high and no one seems to know it or want to post it here but Schaefer said the offer was $1 mill. Considering Nonito's previous was just a little over that mark it seems reasonable because HBO has deeper pockets than Show.

The article also has Arum making it look like the reason GBP won't accept is they want to bring the fight to Showtime and Arum has loyalties to HBO for showcasing Donaire 4 times last year.

Would you say Rigo matches up more favorably against Donaire and less so against Mares? I think Mares's pressure style, low blows and biased reffing would beat Rigo.

Again though, if all contact went through Espinoza, how did Mares not see the offer? You'd have been better off sticking to your silly Mares is ducking story.

The Scene article also doesn't have Arum saying it was double Mares' high. And the network loyalty thing is bull**** since Golden Boy has no problem working with HBO and would take the fight to the highest bidder; I likewise have little doubt HBO would be willing to put aside the April date for a far bigger fight between Donaire-Mares.

Again, read Mares' interview where it can be seen. He never mentions it in spite of Schaefer admitting there was an offer.

Not much point 'debating' when people ignore previous posts, other threads, other sources, etc.. I've posted this before.

I'm not going back to see if I said this was on seen or not. Point is, I've posted it a couple of times already. If I got the source wrong in the confusion of multiple threads sue me. You've been in them and should have seen it.

"We're happy to do it. We're happy to pay Mares and Golden Boy enough to where he's going to get double what he's ever gotten before in a fight. If they want to make a fight, they negotiate on what I will pay them, because the fight has to be on HBO."

Again, anyone saying this is not true after Schaefer claimed $1 mill was a "low-ball" offer? NO ONE will touch this because if it is true then Mares ducked and GBP is all smoke.

    I would, yes.

    Stylistically:

    Donaire over Mares.

Rigondeaux maybe not favored over Donaire, but solid chance against him. (better than Mares)

    Mares over Rigondeaux.
