This Bidenko? A fight with him would be necessary if he wants to get in the WBA rankings, a fight with Wlad is something Chambers wants to avoid. If I were in Chambers team I would tell him to campaign in the WBA.
And about Chambers weight, he needs to drop down to around 212lbs. Critics like to say he should move down to cruiserweight, but he's 34-1 so far, he beat Guinn, Brock, gave Povetkin his toughest fight, and beat Peter. I don't see why he needs to move down to cruiserweight. Some compare him to Chris Byrd, I think Chambers is more suited for heavyweight then Byrd because he has pop in his punches. Byrd was always a light-heavyweight/crusierweight.
I think Chambers should go after someone like Maskaev or Arreola. Two top ten fighters who he can outbox convincingly. He would definitely get a title shot after beating either one of those two fighters.
He should fight someone like Taras Bidenko to enhance his markebility in europe/germany. Chambers can beat Bidenko who doesnt have the necessary firepower to take out Chambers anyway! I guess that it would be a close fight, but a winnable one for Eddy.
I personally think Wlad (after hopefully fighting Haye in June) should fight Povetkin. Have the McCline/Arreola winner fight Chambers and the winners of those bouts fight.
I think Arreola would be wise to avoid Arreola but it might happen given the domestic landscape in the US heavyweight scene. He'd be better off to target some European opponents and forgo some money to get positioned for a title fight. Chambers would benefit greatly from a better training regimen. If he could add muscle and lose some fat it would serve him well if he's going to face some of the bigger heavies.
OUCH! But, that's about as I see it, too. He's not big, nor powerful enough to do very much, given who is looming out there in the top five. Maybe fight an Oleg or a Thompson to stay busy. And Thompson Chambers would probably be a pick em fight.
I would like to see him fight Arreola but he'll probably end up fighting someone like Chaz Witherspoon or something.
