i would put him in with oliver mccall to stay busy......... and honestly this is the man to put mccall down on the ground:good
He should fight someone with a defence next time. A boxer, not a slugger. Apart from good chins, what Liakhovich, Peter and Brewster have in common is they block most punches with their face. Maybe Chagaev would be willing to take that fight. The way they fought last night Chagaev isn't really much of a step up from Liakhovich, if at all
Exactly. I'd love to see Helenius vs Boytsov, esp if Boytsov actually fights on Sept 24th and wins convincingly. I was also going to mention Haye, but, well, no, I just can't. :bart
My post came across as a bit too critical of Helenius which is wasn't meant to. Brewster, Peter and Liakhovich are all very good wins for Helenius at this stage of his career and none of them looked too bad against him from what I saw. He should still look for a different style to fight next time though Helenius-Haye would be a great match up, but it looks like Haye is looking slightly higher up the ladder at the moment. If reports are true he's aiming for either Povetkin or Vitali. I'd love to see either of those fights. I think he can beat Povetkin
Thing is, after today's performances, does anyone actually rank Povetkin above Helenius? Neither is a future champion, and both move like they're underwater, but at least Helenius can punch. Povetkin is done.
Povetkin and Chagaev both looked soft in the body. People rank on Adamek, but hey he looks good and no fat.
I think that's a bit premature. He still hasn't lost and has wins over Byrd, Chambers and now Chagaev. That's a pretty good resume, even if Byrd was shot After Vitali-Adamek we'll have a great picture of the heavyweight top ten. I'll probably have Wlad, Vitali, Povetkin, Haye, Adamek as my top 5 assuming Vitali wins
Mccall would be interesting ... seems like Helenius is intent on doing what Haye said he would do ... clean out all the old timers from the division. Dimitrenko would be a meaningful fight. I don't see Haye coming to pass. Haye - Povetkin or Vitali are the only fights I see him taking (and wouldn't mind seeing), but I'd prefer he just retire. Helinius vs Vitali in early 2012 is probably not a wise move for him but it would pay well.
neither guy is probably ready for a real title fight, but both ap and helenius are basically overqualified for k2 shots at this point in comparison to recent contenders. at any rate, let them fight each other
