Mims would be another good one. Benton etc. So much to choose from.

Fair call right there. I think Australian boxing on a domestic level has gone backwards on the whole. I liked the days of Ellis, Fenech, Michael, Roper, Janssen, Leglise, Mundine Sr and the rest.

A Trinidad thread would be cool. He’s one of the highlights of the last 30 years

When Carter was on he was something else IMO. From what I understand he was an alcoholic the whole time he was fighting and beyond. Didnt come to grips with it until later in life

I was actually going to throw that up in my questions. Many a great sportsman has been stunted by alcohol.

Was thinking more like guys like Arguello, Whitaker, Gavilan, etc; unambiguously great fighters. Some cool mentions here though. Especially by @scartissue

Of course not, I'd share it with the entire boxing community.

I'd be even more motivated to share it then. Fans need to see for themselves how good or bad old timers actually were.

The idea that Greb would look absolutely incredible and Robinson-esque is alien to me. We already know that his style was far from pretty. Even if there was footage, I doubt there'd be anything about him that jumps out at you in a way that Robisnon's style or Duran's skill jump out at you.

I think his overall style would be like a mixture of three fighters; Billy Conn, for the speed, erratic rhythm and, on occasion, high-level out-boxing; Gene Fullmer, for the suffocating style, horrendously ugly and tremendously effective offensive and a working knowledge of how to break every rule on the ; and Vito Antuofermo, for that ridiculous workrate and aggression. Throw in being an incredibly strong and inhumanly tough, and you're gonna have a guy who's very effective but doesn't look pretty.
