i can see this kid making it big time, he has speed skill and power! i remember seeing him 2 years ago at his club dale youth, they got some bad ass boxers and he stood out of them all! i really thoughtb j saunders would make it to atleast silver, that kid has some serious talent!
I like this Degale kid...speed overcomes the mistakes of youth. I think he'll make a good pro if he works his ass off. He had a good personality, as did the Irish kids, when Jim Gray interviewed them for our tv. Heaven knows our kids weren't being interviewed the 2nd week. I really enjoy it when kids are full of it...it makes me miss my youth.
Any **** but warren, i would probably sign for someone like arum if an offer was there and move stateside if i was degale he has good talent, someone like mayweather senior as his trainer would be good for him as well
I'm not convinced that this guy has a suitable style for the pro's, especially since he's kinda notorious for lapses of concentration and getting out of his game, isn't he? If you have a hard time staying focused for 4 rounds of 2 minutes, you have a serious problem in the pro's.
Yes he performed marvellously in the olympics, but i believe he had that reputation going in, and you could see it a little bit in the final too. After being brilliant in the first 2 rounds, he kind of allowed the Cuban to draw him into a wild untidy fight, and lost his way a bit. Now of course that is excusable to a degree when you're in an olympic final and you're pumped up and you have a hard charging opponent in front of you, i'm just saying that if that's a part of his character, it can be a big problem for him in the pro ranks. If he does turn pro immediately (did he say so? i wouldn't know) i wish him the best of luck all the same though.
I noticed he lost concentration in a couple of fights when he was ahead and got caught with some stupid shots because of it
I agree about the lapse in concentration statement, but everybody is flawed and im sure he could possibly iron out those flaws. Degale is uber talented and i feel can go far in the pros if managed effectively (in other words not getting fed bums for 20+ fights and gettin K.O'ed as soon as he steps up).
