I doubt David Haye will want to get in the ring with him, but that would be a good contrast of styles. He probably won't get a title fight right out of his V vs Rahman. . . Who is worth fighting aside from the champs? McCline? Barrett? Those are two fighters I know he could beat in the physical condition he was in vs rahman the second time.
I think Toney still has enough to beat David Haye. I'd be very surprised if Haye faces Toney, especially in November. Toney-Rahman 3 isn't a bad idea, a lot of unfinished business there. If Toney plays his cards right I wouln't be surprised if he faces Wlad Klitschko early next year. If Wlad can't unify than Toney is a good pick for Wlad to fight in the U.S after Povetkin. All Toney has to do is not lose and then he has to be on Wlad's shortlist. So i'd expect him to face someone like Williamson, Barett, Meehan, or someone similar. Decent name who has little chance against Toney that way he stays active and on the shortlist.
Toney - Golota would be good to see. Personally, I wouldn't be interested in seeing Toney fight McCline or Barrett. Nor a third Rahman fight.
I still think Toney has enough to be competitive with most heavyweights today except Wlad, but that would probably be the biggest fight for him. Guys like Peter, Valuev, Chagaev, and maybe another one or two would all be solid favorites over Toney, but anyone else I say James is 50/50 or favored over. Age and weight have taken a toll on the guy but his skillset is far above any other heavyweight and thats enough to put him in the mix. Toney also brings enough of a name and charisma to be an attractive fight for any heavyweight.
Dunno if he should really get a crack at any of the titilists, but I can't deny I love seeing Toney take the fight to all these huge Heavyweights. There's no way he should be able to compete with these big dudes, but he's so scrappy and slick. I just sit there and watch in amazement, even though I really shouldn't.
Lets face it, Toney isnt going to knock any of these guys out, so which of the current belt holders would he be able to win a clear enough points decision over in places like Germany and Russia etc. Its a shame Chagaev is injured cos i could see Toney giving him a good run, if he's in shape, considering how Matt Skelton did against him.
Haye not yet a title holder, would destroy Toney though. You can just see Toney trying to perform all his defensive tricks, then WHAM! the hayemaker lands flush, then its "Lights Out" for Toney
