I think Lucian Bute should be on the list despite the controversial ending to his last fight. All of the other fighters are good matchups, but Bute is still undefeated and has a belt too.
I think Kessler should look to unify.. More than likely, the winner of the WBC eliminator between Taylor/Lacy will probably fight the winner of Froch/Pascal who are fighting for the vacant WBC title.. Bute is looking to fight Larsen and then probably a rematch with Andrade.. Kessler should fight Denis Inkin for WBO title and then whomever is holding the WBC title which I hope is Taylor.. No fight I want to see more at 168 than Kessler vs Taylor..
who should he fight? any of the above who will he fight? an overmatched opponent with no purpose but to put dollars in the pocket and another W in the column sorry guys kesslers promoter seems hesitant to throw him into another big fight again
You make it sound as if Kessler COULD fight the big American boys, but DIDN'T want to. Kessler's been chasing the big and big-ish American names since the Calzaghe fight, but in vain. As we speak, he's trying to get one of the big Americans to fight him... ...but they don't want to have anything to do with him...I wonder why...
I would love to see Kessler v Taylor - this would guarentee him recognition in the U.S. - and if he wants to unify the division afterwards there will be interest from all the big TV networks.
His promotor did everything he could to prevent the Haussler fight, he didnt even bid on the purse, claiming that it would not be responsible to host such a event, and that he feared for Hausslers health...He stated after the fight that there was nothing to celebrate. Also if you watch Kesslers corner just after the Haussler fight, they were more angry then celebrating...
Froch then Taylor. I would say Bernard, but BHop would never take that fight. Never, ever, never. No way, zero zilch, nada. But I'd love to see it. After Froch and Taylor, I'd say the winner of Abraham and Pavlik, and then throw in a Bute or Inkin for good measure. At that time, he could probably face Dawson at 175 (if Dawson is still champ) or take on Ward or Dirrell (whichever one pans out).
Question: How much does HBO have to say in order to get a top yank in the ring with Kessler ? Many claimed that Kessler ducked Miranda/Showtime in order to go after a belt, but i think that it had as much to do with keeping the good relations with HBO. Kessler and Palle ar going to the US next week, and a spokesperson from HBO was on danish tv, saying that they wanted to make a fight.
At this point I don't think so, being that Dawson hasn't legitimized his spot at the top to a point where a win over him would go unquestioned. Not that I don't think the fight should happen. I just think at this point, a fight with Taylor would do more to put him on the map in the U.S. and that he should concentrate on unifying and cleaning out his division before moving up to 175.
