Who do u think he should have next? The reason I picked these sort of guys is because I maybe see a future for him at Light heavy and so Blades is a good sort of warm up oppenent before an eliminator even a title shot. And if he does stay at this weight then I feel he needs a bit of a test but someone who is there for him to beat. Or maybe get him another title shot straight away against Bute maybe.
Kessler will find it hard to get a decent fight now. Pavlik would be great, not sure about Bute, too much risk
Why on earth would any of them fight Kessler!? Kessler's going to struggle for fights for a while. He needs to re-establish himself in whichever division he chooses first, then go after some names.
You're forgetting that Kessler has nothing to offer anymore. No belts. There's no reason for Froch to take that risk. In an ideal world, yes - it would be good to see but it's not going to happen. There are not many people out there who are going to touch Kessler without his belts on the line - and even fewer will be wanting to travel to Denamrk. The people listed in the poll are more realistic.
Yeah, the question is not whom he should fight next (Bute :nod) but who would be the best out of the ones he would have a realistic chance of getting to agree to fight him next...Unless someone is superbrave...and I cannot see anyone in the Top 7-8 being superbrave, he will have to look lower down the rankings...my vote goes to Sakio Bika - he will fight Mikkel and he is in the Top 10.
Do you not think this will be for the interim world championship of at least one of the organisations or even the vacant ???
Kessler against Bute would be the fight, in my opinion. Kessler, in losing, still proved he is a top tier guy at Super Middleweight. No need to go back to building back up, he should fight Bute straight off.
So he can fight Kessler for the vacant WBC title come March ?? I'm sure the WBC would love to have Kess back on board.
He would, but Bute won't fight him YET - he isn't stupid! Bute said that he wasn't ready to fight the likes of Joe or Mikkel yet, but that he hoped he would be, soon! Why, from Lucian's point of view, should he be Kessler's rebound/fall guy? Did Mikkel fight Joe before he was ready? No! He had called out Joe for a long time. Well, Bute never called out Kessler or Joe, ever...so he shouldn't be expected to drown himself just to give Kessler a lift. When Lucian Bute fights Kessler - and fight him he definitely will - it will be when he is ready to win. Give it a year or so...:good
He'd have to travel to Montreal for little money to do that. That's if Bute's management allow it. I'd like to see this fight too though. SMW iis exciting at the moment. Bute - Kessler - Inkin - Frock - Lacy - all young guys with talent. Add your Bika's and Mundines into the equation and the future's good at 168.
With regards to big names and or world title belts we would need to wait until Calzaghe signed the the dotted line for a LHW title fight and reliniquish his SMW belts, because i doubt that Bute will take the fight and i doubt that any other "big" name will take the fight without a belt at stake. Personally i would also like for Kessler to have an "easier" fight at home as his next fight as kind of come back/confidence building fight. The perfect fight in my opinion would be the winner of Sanavia & Haussler for the EBU title sometime in the spring 2008. Neihter should be very dangerous and it would bring a belt. The question is the amount of money it would take to bring the fight to Copenhagen. If this is not possible, Stjepan Bozic IBF & WBA IC. could be posibble.
Welcome to ESB! All these names are in the running to fight Bute...and as we all know, they will want to fight Lucian Bute, for his belt, rather than the dangerous Kessler, for a free beating.
