But lemieux hasn't shown me that he would be able to start out as fast as joe, so i do think that manfredo would be able to see what was coming.
Lemieux isn't anywhere near as fast as joe, plus he doesn't fight off angles
the same way either. Two totally different styles IB. However, yes i do
think lemieux could get to manfredo, but not in the fashion as was stated in the post you rebutted. Manfredo would very well be able to test lemieux in a way he hasn't been tested yet.

I think Manfredo would fold quickly.

As Jenna J suggested this past week "On The Topes", Lemieux could and perhaps should face a guy like Marco Antonio Rubio. Solid fight, solid match-up, fireworks guaranteed, plus both came off KO wins.

Right now I'd really like to see DL face a slick mover in a big ring. The ring the other night was really small, and Ayala either threw his fight plan out the window, or came in stuck on stupid.

At the moment I think guys like Rubio, Mora, David Lopez, and others of that calber might be a bridge to far. However, on the developmental level, a guy similar to Lopez in an 18-20 foot ring would be a good choice.

He needs more easy fights to build his reputation up. He's fast becoming what Valero was. A truly fearsome puncher and the fans should see that, against some guys who are hittable, can be hurt, yet skilled. Stick him in with a Karmazin or someone like that.

Lemieux shouldn't be tested at this stage of his career. The key should be building him up.

sounds like you'd really like Lemieux to lose

Why face a slick mover in a big ring? The guy is still developping.

He should be challenging himself with every fight he decides to take. I would rather see lemieux evolve as a complete fighter and maybe even take a loss versus seeing him blow out people in early rounds for a year or two.

there is a middle ground between those 2 extremes where a guy is matched with fighters who will enhance both his development and his ranking without putting him at a high risk of taking a loss and missing out on mega-paydays that being undefeated can help him obtain.

I think guys like Manfredo or Karmazin are both great examples. Not walkovers but also, winnable fights with something to gain..

Hell no I don't want to see Lemieux lose. Put it this way; I've already reseverved a ticket for a good seat on the David Lemiuex hype train. I haven't paid for, or occupied, said seat because I'm not completely sold on the kid quite yet.

I want to see him fight a guy who will make him do some tactical thinking, and then show the skills to use those tactics. A slickster in a big ring is exactly what he needs developmentally. Someone who fights like David Lopez but not quite as good as Lopez would be perfect.

Just to confuse people, he should fight Mike Paschall.

Seriously though, the fight would be on fairly short notice, so he couldn't fight anyone all that great. Preferably someone with a good beard who can box a little. Kid needs to be taken rounds.

Now that I think of it, Paschall fits that description perfectly.
