You think Lopez would be able to stay away from Lemieux's right hand for 12 rounds? It's not like Lopez hasn't been knocked out a bunch of times, and he hasn't had his beard tested too much on his recent run. The only guy he's fought in the past 8 or so years who I'd say is a big puncher is Epi Mendoza.

Lopez's chin could definitely fail him in this match up. It ain't exactly granite.

Vera/Lemieux might be a good fight, but I don't see how DL learns anything in this one. I'd rather see him deal with some stylistic adversity at this point.

    Brian Vera or David Lopez.

By the way for those mentioning Lorenzo, he apparently has an IBF eliminator scheduled against Macklin, according to Matt himself.

That would be perfect, but it seems highly unlikely. Both are on the verge of crossing the line from prospect to contender. I doubt if either man's handlers would be willing to risk a loss at this point.

Yeah it's a dangerous fight for both. Tricky style match ups and one which would tell us a lot about where each fighter is at.

But you are right. There isn't a hope of them fighting. An eliminator or something along those lines would be the only thing to get these two in the ring together but neither are ranked high enough for that to happen anytime soon.

Lemieux only 21 y.o., they don't need to rush this kid into another Vargas/David Reid type of career. Someone like a Marcus Upshaw who just upset Lemieux's countrymen StJuste would be more like it. Otherwise a Charles Whitaker, Grady Brewer, Billy Lyle, Michael Medina, Camacho jr. Let the kid develope. At 21, few fighters are ever ready for top 15 level opposition.

Troy Rowland would be another good pick.
