These guys are both legends with so much ability. It must be a close call.

As Much As I Like What Hopkins Has Accomplished It Doesn't Touch The Level Of Opposition That Toney Has Faced.

Add To That Toney Started Off At Middleweight And Has Been Banging With Big Guys On The Hw Scene.

This Guy Has An Awesome Chin And Underrated Skills.

Hopkins Got His Claim To Fame Beating Tito And Oscar ... Everything In Between Is A Blurr ... But His 20 Title Defense Atleast Contributes To His Argument.

I dunno what you're on about mate. Toney has held 3 world titles in his career: IBF middle, IBF supermiddle, IBF cruiser.

But it isn't only about what titles they have/haven't won, that only tells half the story.

He Held A Minor Lhw Title ( I Got It Mixed Up With Lhw & Cruiser) ... And He Was Stripped Of The Title Against Ruiz.

Although it seems to be against the grain on these boards, I'll go with Toney.

toney won 1 world title fight v jirov in 14 years since he lost to jones.

hopkins had dedicated himself to the discipline of making weight and fighting for world titles for 14 years.

why should toney eating himself out of divisions make him the better fighter because he moved up in weight.

by not holding any world titles toney basically had his cherry pickings of who he fought and did not have to take on all comers like hopkins.

everet big foot martin a super middle moved up just like toney, was short and fat just like toney, unlike toney he never had much abilty, but even so martin was competitive and sturdy against all the top heavys of his day.

toney is a great fighter but he pissed away his career since the jones fight, hardly dedicating himself at all.

talent he had, and as a middleweight he was very good , but IMO i would have picked hopkins the middleweight to beat toney the middleweight.

so on career acheivements and a who beat who h2h i am picking hopkins.

I was going to go with Toney on talent, but this fact is hard to argue against.

Former supermiddleweight champ former cruiser weight champ and almost hw champ if it were not for the steroid controvesy ..Its a tough call consdiering how Toney really jacked up his career after his weight problems ..So I guess Hopkins based on a squeaky clean record ..

    BHop

Cleaned out a division 20 title defenses won the legit Light Heavyweight Championship of the World.

All Toney ever did was win the IBF belt in 3 divisions never unified moved up to Heavyweight beat the worst beltholder Ruiz and then tested positive for steroids and had to give the belt back.

I would have to say Hopkins.

Although Toney has campaigned at Heavyweight, he's never really made any noise at the weight. Toney didn't go on to dominate any division after his loss to Roy Jones, whereas Hopkins dominated Middleweights for years getting some underrated wins in the process at other weights: Winky Wright, Tarver, and Trinidad are all huge wins.
