Why is he despicable? Because of the punch on Mendy? If you think that was intentional then you're nuts. If you think that Bika thought "Hey, Mendy's down.... now here's my chance".... you haven't a clue. Bika would blast Green out in 4 rounds. Terrible style match up for Green.
I know he isn't above the competition, I said he thinks he is. Because I think Magee has a good chance of beating Allan Green and it would be great to see him get a big fight.
Watch the video. If you legitimately think it's unintentional then you're nuts. He clearly thought "Hey, Mendy's down...now here's my chance". There was a full moment's hesitation to load up and everything. ...which is stupid, because as Boro Chris says he was doing really well in that round and perhaps could have gotten rid of Mendy legitimately before the bell rang to end the 1st. Bika could well dispose of Green early but that doesn't mean he deserves to be in the Super Six (I've objected to Green's inclusion since it was announced). The winner of Green vs. Bika is not a particularly important super middleweight.
It's more reasonable to assume it was a mistake. He was in the process of throwing a combo. You quickly turn off the adrenline in a moment like that. Bika was already winning that fight.... to do something that would clearly be a DQ makes no sense at all.
Haven't read that many comments from bute about super six and the competition, but if he really thinks he's better than anyone in the super six he should want to fight them even more.
Stupid fighters do things like that all the time (see Bobby Pacquiao with his litany of low blows while ahead on the scorecards against Hector Velazquez). Bika isn't exactly known as Mensa material. He saw an opportunity for a cheap shot and he took it. Mistake my ass. Watch the video. Count out the full second between Mendy going down to a knee and Bika loading up on that uppercut. The HBO clock goes from 1:50 to 1:49 as Mendy takes his knee. Bika throws the uppercut at 1:48. Give me a ****ing break with this lame apologist crap. He saw Mendy down and hurt, and thought he would get away with a quick and easy punctuation mark with his back turned to the ref and with Mendy only down on one knee and maybe not identifiable as down from the ref's vantage. He thought wrong.
He apparently was looking for too much money for it. That says to me that he felt he didn't need it. If he fights the loser of the Froch Abraham I will start to like him.
Bute was NEVER invited to participate. According to Ken Herschman of Showtime Sports including Bute and/or Pavlik would be to expensive. Niether was ever invited. Please, just one time, educate yourself.
Bute was not "looking for to much money." No one ever talked to him! Herschman and Sauerland invited two prospects, and shop worn Jermain Taylor, without ever talking to Bute or Pavlik.
Pirog might stop Green, and advance with 3 points. I think Pirog gets massively over rated based on one mediocre win, but his inclusion would certainly be interesting.
Agree, he just brings that unknown quantity, plus, he strikes you as one those guys that does not come to lie down, which usually makes for exciting fights.
