This:deal, but considering Valuev hasn't fought in so long and the negotiations will be hard again. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hellnius fight Vitali in his place. Leaving Wlad open for a fight vs. Arreola. A fight that has been mentioned quite a bit the last couple months. Plus he'd bring HBO back to the table with his following. Besides Povetkin's mandatory or lose of paper title vs. Wlad. Does anyone else know the deadline for the Stiverene and Thompson fights. Am I to assume that they will be the 1st fights for the brothers next year, or can they fit another voluntary in front??
Thompson isn't a good style match-up for Wlad. He's a southpaw, with long reach, as well as serious power when he connects. Wlad's main advantage over Thompson is speed and agility. This, combined with Steward's holding techniques, and Thompson's ankle injury, determined the first fight. Most likely Wladimir would win a 2nd fight more decisively but it's also possible that Thompson has upped his game. Anyway I'd like to see this fight first but Wlad might decide to fight the likes of Arreola or Huck first....would be a shame imo. The opponents I'm most interested in seeing Wladimir fight are Thompson, Povetkin, Helenius, and the Haye rematch.
Goosen tried to put Arreola right back into it with the Quezada match but Arreola showed up fat and took a beating while breaking his hands on Quezada's hard head. Since then Goosen is trying to protect Arreola long enough till his time comes vrs. Wladimir (or some other big pay-day). I'm a little puzzled tbh why Arreola isn't Wlad's December opponent...is it possible Goosen changed strategy and now wants Arreola to fight Povetkin? Or maybe Goosen/Arreola doesn't want to fight in Europe?
Do you really believe that, or are you joking with us? I like Chris and I think his aggressive style will make for an entertaining fight with Wlad. But I don't rate Arreola's chances of winning very high.
The question is who will fight the Klitschko's? Legitimate conterders are all biding their time and/or lining up behind Povetkin for a shot at his gifted belt/bauble.
It seems Vitali says he only has 2 fights or so left in him, so I'd expect him to take the biggest ones possible and not mess around with someone like Stiverne. I'd guess Haye and Valuev would probably be the two fights at the top of his list with someone like Huck coming up next. I'd really like to see a Vitali-Helenius fight in about a year, I think its the best fight in the division, but I'm unsure it happens. I'd also be really intrigued in a Vitali-Chambers match but I don't think Chambers carries enough clout. Wlad is going to stick around for a few more years so he'll make his mandatories so I'm guessing a Thompson rematch happens in 2012. He's also been talking about Arreola so I'd guess thats his second fight. Hopefully Wlad fights three times in 2012(and there's no reason he shouldn't) and the third fight is a big one. If someone were to beat Vitali then that would become a big fight, especially if it were Haye or Valuev. Povetkin or Helenius would be nice and I think a Wlad-Povetkin fight has a chance at happening in 2012. Thompson, Arreola, and Povetkin would be a really good year if Wlad were to face and beat all of them.
