He should go straight for the belts. Usyk is better than any of the overgrown punching bags in the HW division. The only one who might beat him is Wilder, who does have similar speed to Usyk.
Breazeale would be a safer fight but it wouldn't tell us anything we didn't already know, namely that Usyk can outclass big slow lumbering guys without breaking a sweat. I'd rather he just go straight for the HW jugular and let's see what he can do. Whyte's combination of decent size, counter punching and heavy hands might cause Usyk problems, but he'll experience all that and more if he ever goes after Joshua, so why not expose himself to it as early as possible? It's not like Whyte is head and shoulders above anyone he's ever fought, and Usyk will gain a ton of experience from it if he wins. I say just do it. A fighter of Usyk's calibre doesn't need to be mollycoddled.
Wilder would get completely outclassed by Usyk. Probably even worse than in the Fury fight. It's a terrible style matchup for him.
Usyk is no plum, he'll not be fighting the elite of the division until he's settled at the weight. Those suggesting he gets chucked to the lions "cos skillz" are a tad naive. Size, weight and durability of opponents at pro HW may cause him problems and it's better to find out against someone who he can struggle to victory against, rather than a tank of a man who will cave his head in.
I actually think David Price would be a good first matchup for him. Yes I know David Price has had many undeserved chances but it's more about Usyk getting in with a hard puncher who's tall and will most likely go all out like he did against Povetkin and Usyk does usually get out of the blocks slowly before eventually losing in the middle rounds but hey, it would be entertaining for about the 6 rounds that the fight would last for.
Usyk isn’t slick like Fury and eats too many right hands, Wilder will land it eventually and put him to sleep.
If the rumour of Ortiz signing with DAZN is true then I think Hearn may use him as the sacrificial lamb to Usyk. Ortiz is Highly ranked, old, slow footed, out of shape HW with health issues and who only has one win over a notable opponent. Plus Ortiz is Wilder's only notable win so if he gwta schooled by Uysk it takes away credibility from Wilder.
Really great fight for both, Parker is on the outside looking in on the champs, can't see him ever winning anoher title in today's ERA, This fight give Usyk a Name VS a very small hw. He could also go the route of smallest contender/(really pretenders) out there. There's even a couple names that are very winnable by stoppage out there.
I think Uysk shouldnt just rush in against the best, i know hes pure quality and fighter of the year and hes faced plenty of heavies in his time but dont pile the weight on let it build and take on some gate keeper like Deontay Wilder before going in against the good fighters.
