I left out the champs like Pavilk, Abraham and Sturm sence I really don't see Winky getting a title shot coming off a lose.:-(
I didn't vote - because I don't want to see him fight any of them. Abraham - Pavlik - or any of the guys around 168lbs. I'll even watch him fight Vernon Forrest or Spinks. There aren't many big fights out there for him - cause he's too dangerous. The Risks Factor outweights the Reward Factor.
Truth to tell, I don't know if I care if I ever see Winky fight again. Good, close fight with Taylor, then he runs the last round, and flatly turns down a rematch.Taylor was down with it, and he didn't have to be.True , Winky has been avoided, and has been unlucky not to get the Vargas and Taylor decisions. But does that entitle him to act like a reluctant Homecomeing Queen?
I'd like to see him school Pavlik, and expose this guy as the just short of top class boxer that he really is Won't ever happen mind
He's getting old. He just needs to get in the ring and fight somebody before his body breaks down. He's getting long in the tooth.
If Winky fought and beat number 2 ranked Giovanni Lorenzo in a box off he would become Pavlik's number one contender and would right back in the mix. That and a few wins over guys like Lockett and Rubio would have every one screaming for a Pavlik Vs Winky fight by end of 2008:good I really think Winky fighting Hopkins was a mistake it took him right out of middleweight mix now he has to earn it back the hard way:verysad
Pavlik and Taylor will move up and out of the Middle weight ranks to leave Pavlik's title up for grabs. I see Vernon Forrest fighting Mayorga and then going to challenge for the middle weight title. I see Felix Trinidad, if he loses or wins against RJJ, realize he is not big enough to fight at Super Middle Weight and move to Middle weight, should he not retire. An interim win by both Winky and Trinidad may set the stage for a second fight between them (although would Tito want that?). Another alternative for Tito would be to go to 154 for a title and stay clear of Cotto. I agree that Winky's choice to fight BHOP was a bad one. He looked slow and just out of his weight class. He should stay 154 to 160. I think his best chance would be to fight Mora, as the contender tag would lead more significance to the fight.
Let's see Winky/Abraham on the Pavlik/Duddy undercard. Winky wins, and that sets up a mega fight wth Pavlik. Pavlik wins, and Winky leaves the ring on the heels of a great pay day. Boo
