Who showed the better chin vs foreman? Frazier or Lyle?

Which fight? The Foreman or the Ali fight.

I think the chins are about even maybe a slight edge to Lyle, but if Frazier was in peak condition, he recovered a bit quicker after taking the blow.

He withstood some big shots and was able to make it a two way war

More importantly, he showed much better recuperative powers than Frazier. He rose and fought back with power, hurting Foreman.

Frazier was badly hurt early and was blown out without doing any damage to Foreman.

 

Against Foreman, Lyle seemed to show a better chin.
But he fell to pieces after one good right hand from Ali, and I wouldn't like to guess how many of those Frazier ate in his trilogy with The Great One.

 

Is that why Lyle stayed down for the count and Frazier didn't?

 

Yeah, but he took many shots earlier and was able to keep fighting back effectively. Frazier was totally thrashed in a one way beating going down over and over

 

Lyle, it was a knock down drag out scrap Frazier was never in either of his fights with George, down 8 times in 7 rds!

 

Frazier imo got hit with much harder shots. I don't think Lyle goes 5 with the '73 Foreman.

 

Lyle hurt a brain-dead Foreman who wasn't going anywhere anyway. Prime George takes care of Lyle early much in the same way he did Frazier.
Quarry HURT Lyle, melting his legs, ready to go. Jerry said he was scared going into the Lyle fight but: "I hit him with a left hook in the first and his knees buckled, I knew then he could be had!"
Jerry landed some Sunday Shots against Joe and Joe didn't even blink!

Lyle made it a war. Frazier was absolutely slaughtered.

 

The thread is only about how well they took the shots against Foreman. It has nothing to do with overall, so Quarrey shouldn't be brought into the discussion. And, even if Foreman was not at his 73 peak, he still had his awesome punching power.

It's clear Lyle took Foreman's shots better than Frazier did.

Would he if he had fought the 73 Foreman? We don't know. He didnt fight that version.

And the Frazier that fought Foreman in 76 didnt give Foreman as a good a fight as Lyle did, either.

While I agree, his punching power was still "awesome", it wasn't the same as '73. This Foreman used straight punches instead of the round swings. It may have been more fundamentally correct, but not nearly as powerful.

He gets wrecked.

Debatable. He may have not dropped Foreman, but he was the only victim since Peralta II, to answer the bell without having been knocked down.

 

Again this was a rusty and inferior Foreman who'd just returned after a 2 year lay off.
