Senior always looked cut, but he drank. My friend as his future wife went to a nice restaurant in Brighton in the early 90s. Although they had ordered, they were asked to move to another table. My friend was obviously not happy. Eubank, his then wife and another couple took the table (and another). When Eubank found out, he apologised to my friend personally (even though it was not his fault) and ordered him another bottle of Champagne that Eubank and his party were drinking.

I'm inclined to believe Eubank over your friend, that he was teetotal.

Fair enough; if I was in your position, I would think the same!

Monzon wasn't what you'd call disciplined. Away from training he loved a drink.

British Light Welterweight Clinton McKenzie had a near 20 year career and never missed at a weigh in. He was always in fighting shape and he was still going 12 rounds in British Title fights right at the end of his career. Tremendous pro.

Although I’ve never seen any of his fights myself Jimmy Carter told me the best conditioned fighter he’d seen was Al Gainer.

Kid Gavilan was also always in impeccable shape.
