Who Stands Best Chance of Stopping Comeback Foreman?

We have a regular poster who's a bit like that about Foreman.

 

He would seem to be the biggest puncher Foreman ever faced. Its hard to know how Foreman's chin holds up against a puncher of such a calibre.

 

1st Joshua wasn't on this list, 2nd maybe when and if he learns how to fight .

 

All but Tua. Foreman never had any intentions of fighting Lewis or Bowe who would have crushed him. Tyson would have as well but George wanted the fight. He’s very lucky history played out in his favor. Seeing a big bellied Forman flattened on the canvas would have left a far different legacy than the edged but not broken icon he became.

 

To stop an old Foreman you had to be much, much more than a hard-hitting HW.

Gerry Cooney, Tommy Morrison, Alex Stewart, Bert Cooper, Shannon Briggs all hit pretty hard but never were close to drop Foreman, let alone stop him.

Old Foreman indeed had an iron chin (never was dropped in 34 comeback fights, at the age 38-48), mental toughness, stamina, and blocked punches pretty well too.

 

Don't forget that mark 2 Foreman had incredible balance. Not too many have noticed, or given him credit for that.

 

I don`t feel Lewis could stop George with one punch because Lyle couldn`t and he was one of the hardest punchers ever in the heavyweight division.

Riddick Bowe. He was aggressive enough to pour it on of George is hurt. He was also nasty and dirty so There's that.

 

In the 90's era? Lennox is probably the only guy who could hypothetically stop old Foreman. He had the right combination of size, power, skill, and experience and even then, it might not happen. For one, lennox was weak to big right hands and george had one so it could easily swing the other way. And for two, Lennox was often content to cruise to a decision and avoid taking risks (holyfield, tua, etc). Lennox could easily outbox slow old foreman so unless he has him badly hurt, he probably doesnt even go for it.

But to answer the question, it's certainly "possible" but it would be a very, very short list and Lennox is the only one id confidently put on that list.

Sure bowe has the talent, power, and aggression to theoretically pull it off, but being overly aggressive and brawling with foreman (like bowe tended to do) and fighting dirty is only gonna end with bowe staring at the ceiling.

Hed be better off using his big man jab trying to shut georges eyes with flurries or waiting to land one big shot, not intentionally starting a war.

 

Which Lyle fight makes you say that he was a harder puncher than Lewis?

 

I don't think any of them would. Lewis might be the best chance, say he hurts George with that huge right hand and follows up. Bowe isn't a terrible shout.

He could make the same question for earnie shavers but he does not have the balls to say the same thing because the consensus is that shavers hits the hardest? But who was the best ko victim of shavers?? A shot norton? Even in his prime every big puncher destroyed him.. Shavers himself was more durable than norton and lyle killed him.
