Phrasing it differently doesn't separate this from the already overcrowded pack of "who can beat floyd" threads. :yep
Suprised to see SSM in the lead currently. I think its about a 50/50 shot for Shane at this age. Let's just hope PBF has the fortitude to face the top guys and find out. I voted Cotto. Based on what I've seen him do to skilled, fast, boxers like Malignaggi, Quintana, and Judah, I definitely see him KO'ing Floyd. Floyd wont hurt him at 47 and Miguel understand's how to get inside. He can also switch stances very proficiently and is a natural southpaw. All of those factors combine to spell a big L for Floyd.
IMHO, i wouldn't put any tall guy against PBF. check his record against tall, lanky guys even with punching power. Corrales, Ndou, Genaro Hernandez among other's. it seems he has the movement and style to beat them easily. So I put williams and margo out of the question. Then again, i may sound biased but i still believe it's sugar shane mosley. compare it to the others, you may argue that they are fresher, younger, stronger and they may even beat ssm. but i've seen weakness especially with the two leading names, cotto and hatton. why? cotto has one of the slowest feet in the business. it may not be evident as his punching power and brute force has been enough. but if floyd uses his shoes all night cotto might not touch anything. and remember, floyd has even quicker hands, sometimes it's speed that knocks people out. hatton, well, i'd say he may give pbf trouble the way castillo did in the first fight. but then again, pbf did beat castillo easier on the rematch. i don't think hatton will bring something that pbf has never seen before. with mosley, floyd is facing someone with fast hands, slower than someone like judah, but with enough speed. he has the power too. and when necessary, he displayed physical strength on the dlh rematch. that physical strength can be an intangible if he wants to outmuscle pbf inside. plus, shane's bodywork has doubled over guys. and with an encounter to last the distance, pbf would surely have gotten slower as the fight progresses. making him much more vulnerable. just my two cents.
Hatton has surely had chance after chance of being exposed (in fact ervery fight of the last 3 years has apparently been the time he is going to be exposed), suprisingly he never is. Collazo was a meal for Hatton who is famed for looking bad against Southpaws. Collazo was huge compared to what Floyd will be. Hatton was initially fighting at 140 as I understand it before taking the Collazo fight at 147 on six weeks notice. Hatton overpowers Tszyu, Urango (The Beast) and Castillo, and will overpower Floyd (if PFB decides to trade - which he most likely wont.). What I think you underestimate is Hatton's ability to cut off the ring and get on the inside. You may not find it pretty, or call it chasing, but I honestly think you'll be suprised at how good his footwork is for getting inside, and his handspeed is impressive whilst on the inside. I certainly think PBF starts favourite without a doubt and displays some great defensive skill, but to call Hatton a 'plodder' confirms to me that you have not really seen him in action enough to appreciate his skill, and that you will be suprised whether he wins, or loses (or draws) should the fight be made...as expected.... in the next 48hrs.
i'd say cotto margarito and williams would all pose problems as far as winning anyones guess only one way to find out relentless pressure and the ability to take punishment and keep coming out throwing is what will do it not a superior or faster boxer a man who can beat pbf up over the first half of the fight maybe losing on points but able to slow him down in the second half to be able to punish him
Mosley, I think he has the speed, and power. And boxing knowledge to make it a good competitive fight. Floyd does have a lil trouble with fighters that have the same speed as him or better. Even though I would pick FLoyd to win, I think he shows the most threat. Cotto, has the power. But If Zab stunned Cotto, and was able to catch him the way he did, then Floyd who is a way smarter fighter IMO, will beat Cotto. Hatton is a laugh, if the fight between him and Floyd gets made, he is gonna get killed. Williams poses a lil bit of a problem jus b/c of his height. But he makes a lot of mistakes, I h8 to say it but MArgo could have beaten him if eh capitalized on his mistakes. BUt Margo is so limited that he couldnt so hey. But Floyd on teh other hand will. Mosley poses the biggest threat IMO.
