In no way shape or form do I think AJ is the unstoppable force that some people think he is. But realistically when you look at the heavyweights out there, I can't make a strong case for any of them to beat him? Haye - inactive, his heart isn't in it, it's just about a pay day Klitschko - too old, days are numbered for retirement announcement Povetkin - too small, he struggled with Klitschko size Wilder - possibly his biggest test, similar size, can bang, but too easily hit, could be an easy nights work Fury - if he gets his head sorted he could potentially beat him over 12 rounds, doubt he'd stop him. It's easy for AJ to come back from a UD.
All of those guys have a good chance, I'd include Luis Ortiz (even though he looked awful vs Malik Scott) in a list of potential big challenges ahead too. All depends at what stage he fights them too as he's still improving and several of those guys are on the decline. It's hard to predict with confidence that he'd lose in any individual matchup. I would favour a healthy and fit Fury over where AJ is right now, maybe Wilder too and 50/50 for Haye AJ's best win in his career is probably over Dillian Whyte, and he got majorly rocked in that bout.
Coming from Scottish angle I am not Joshua biggest fan but I believe Joshua is a good hw but far from tested .he got badly hurt of whyte who has since showed he is average at best.prob is he appeals to casuals because of his physique and big kos. But his kos have been bums and he can't be a prospect anymore as he is world champion but Hearn will milk it as much possible and so would all promoters as he was badly hurt amateurs. Right now for me wlad wilder Parker and povetkin all beat him posibly even haye , fury don't think fight again Joshua has massive potential but he needs be tested If was me after molina I would go after Browne if drugs test thing over Briggs then Ortiz then build up for Parker and wilder who I think will be the hw that are around in future
I think that's a fair assessment, nobody taken his power so far but yep I think Wilder but I'd still favour AJ
This weekend will clear some things up regarding AJ and other top HWs, but I think Joe Parker could be a legit risk (while not a favourite, but I'm talking about possibilities here) and while on a far lesser level I think the risk that Molina gives is being underestimated - not because I think he's as complete a boxer, but because realistically any heavyweight that can hang around for rounds and can bang is a legit threat and there is still a question mark regarding AJ's chin.
Parker. Similar size. Throws straight punches and has excellent combination punching....far superior to AJs imho. Potvetkin's L to Wlad was due almost entirely to Wlad's ability to tie up. Not saying Sasha would have beaten Wlad, but we have absolutely NO IDEA if AJ could adopt that tactic vs Potvetkin or if he'd even need to. Haye certainly looks to have his heart in it. I don't know what your'e looking at, but in his comeback, he's fought DeMori and Gjerjaj, and is fighting Bellew next. Sure, the Bellew fight is a money fight, but while DeMori and Gjerjaj were certainly not household names, they were definitely solid fringe level contenders known well enough by fightfans who took their nationalistic glasses off long ago and view the sport as a WORLD fight game. Can Haye beat AJ???? Not sure....he certainly didnt look obliged to engage similar big men in Valuev and Wlad, but that was when he was in self preservation mode. Maybe, just maybe, David Haye wants to be the man....if that's the case, he'll hit Joshua, Wilder, Potvetkin, or Browne should they fight......and if he does...... Yes......Wlad is likely to be too old. He was gunshy in the Jennings fight and was FORCED by Pulev into a war. He came out on top, but you could see in both the Jennings and the the Fury fights that the Wlad that gassed vs Brewster 1, dominated Brewster 2, blitzkreiged Chagaev, Mercer, and Shultz was NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. Wilder vs Joshua would be the ultimate chess match. Either that or a repeat of Lewis Akinwande with Wilder playing the role of Henry. LMAO And yeah, there's the X factor in Tyson Fury. Is he still a fighter? God only knows. But on his best night, fully fit and motivated to be King.....he'd certainly give AJ a run for his money, and I wouldn't completely rule it out even today.
Parker would beat him throws lots of combos head movement is better than Joshua's and has fought a higher level of opponent compared to Joshua's bums also shown a much bigger improvement from fight to fight.
