Who suits Usyk more stylistically, Dubois or Hrgovic?

I think that both of them have equal chances in this fight and minimal ones, Dubois hits harder and in that area he is better, while Hrgovic moves a bit better, but Usyk outboxes both of them with ease.

I think Hrgovic is the harder fight to be honest.

Dubois is the harder fight for Usyk. Hrgovic is awful. Usyk beats them both, Dubois has that one hit ko power, makes him dangerous.

I think that Hrgović is a tough fight for Usyk. Hrgovic also has a better chin than Dubois. In fact, I don't think Dubois is any danger for Usyk, while Hrgovic is a bit of a different story.

I agree. Dubois is pretty basic and stiff. Almost like he's trying to follow all the instructions drilled into him and not mess up. He's not a natural boxer. And he's still relatively young for a modern heavyweight.

Hrgovic has really fast hands, he has really good size, he can bang, and he has an odd style. Fighting southpaws is no big deal to him. He's probably peaking right now.

The last one Hrgovic fought (a couple weeks ago) was terrified and held 90 percent of every round, until the ref finally put a stop to it when the bout was nearly over, and then the fight ended rather quickly.

Hrgovic stopped Dubois in the gym but Dubois has crazy power. George Foreman and Sonny Liston type thudding power according to Usyk's former trainer and now member of Dubois' camp James Ali Bashir. Bashir has worked with Lennox Lewis and Wlad among others and he said Dubois' power is right up there with them.

Dubois' ex-trainer Shane McGuigan said Dubois' one of the hardest punchers in the division and that he thinks he's the actual hardest (this was just the other day not when he was working with Dubois).

Moses Itauma who has sparred AJ and Big Joe Joyce among others said that Dubois gave him his hardest ever spar, that he hits extremely hard and that he's fast for a HW.

'I’VE BEEN one of Daniel’s main sparring partners and it’s been hard. Really hard. We’ve been training at high altitude in Spain (Grenada) and it’s not easy when you are at that altitude and have Daniel coming at you for round after round.

I have been in camp with Daniel since the start of May. We started in London and then came out to Spain at the end of June, early July. I’m one of the only original sparring partners who have made it this far. Daniel has been doing jobs on people. He’s been taking out sparring partners and sending them home. Daniel is a savage. He has been hurting people. It’s proper sparring. It’s a fight, simple as that. Whatever Daniel does, he gives it 100 per cent. That’s his attitude – and it makes it hard for his sparring partners! He doesn’t mess around.

Being hit by Daniel is like being hit by a train. Even when he hits you on the arms, it hurts. You still feel it when he’s wearing 18oz gloves and if he hits Usyk with those 10oz gloves on it will be good night. Daniel is a very good finisher. If he hits you, he hurts you and if he hurts you, he finishes you off.

Daniel has had top-quality sparring. We have had Olympians here and other quality southpaws who are giving him good rounds, making him think, making him work. Moses Itauma was out here for a couple of weeks and then he had to go back because he had a fight in Telford the other week. We do technical sparring as well as open sparring. There’s been more open sparring than technical sparring and Daniel has done a lot of rounds.

The open spars are four in, four out with three different sparring partners. I know people talk about Usyk’s fitness, but Daniel has a phenomenal engine as well. He’s been doing 12 rounds with three different sparring partners at high altitude for weeks. They can both maintain a high work-rate for 12 rounds, but the difference is, Usyk is a boxer and Daniel is a power puncher.

For me, the only heavyweights in the world who can beat Usyk are Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Daniel. Tyson has the size and the skills and Daniel and Wilder have the punch.

    Johnny Fisher

"Daniel Dubois is probably the heaviest hitter I’ve ever been in with, he’s a very powerful puncher," Fisher told talkSPORT.

Big Joe Joyce says Dubois hits extremely hard, so hard he turned Joe into a slick boxing jabber who wanted no part of getting into exchanges with him.

Lots of HWs have said Dubois hits extremely hard.

Sure he didn't look great last time out but only one of those KDs was legit, the other two were due to his injured knee. I thought they were legit at first but when I rewatched it a bit later it was clear he voluntarily took a knee because his knee was badly injured.

Usyk is a year older now, hasn't fought in a year, and when you're facing someone way bigger and heavier than you with crazy power it only takes the slightest mistake. Hrgovic has an iron chin but he doesn't possess that kind of one shot savage power Dubois does.

Everyone is a KO artist until they step up the level. When Dubois is KOing people at world level, we can judge his power more accurately. At the moment, he has a record like most other up and comers.

Hrgovic is the harder fight but Dubois is no pushover. He'd easily beat the Whyte's Chisora's etc. at this stage.

    Hmm, tough one:

    On the one hand

We have an unbeaten top 10 heavyweight, former Olympian, with a controversial win over a top 5 guy. Who gave the business to Deontay Wilder in sparring.

    OR

We have a top 15-25 ranked guy, who lost to a top 10 heavyweight, and greatest win so far was in a fixed fight against a former cruiserweight. Oh and he gave the business to Moses Itauma in sparring.

    Ah, I just can't choose...:(

Hrgovic has an iron jaw and good skills. DuBois has been damaged, suspect chin but devastating power. Toss up for me.

He could beat them both in the same night.

I've never really seen those good skills on display. He didn't look anything special at all in either of his last fights.

Got to go with Dubois, at least he has some power.

On paper it looks like a no-brainer. But most would agree that neither man has the skill/ability to beat Usyk on points, which makes a stoppage a necessity. I'd say that Dubois is the bigger puncher and the more aggressive stylistically, which may matter more in this matchup than whether he's top 10 or would beat Hrgovic.

And as for sparring, a teenage Dubois knocked down Joshua and later on Hughie.

Andy Ruiz is a top 5-6 ranked heavyweight who gave Anthony Joshua the business in a heavyweight championship fight. But I'd certainly pick Dubois over him if I had to send someone in to beat Usyk.

Hrgovic being more experienced and technical must be the harder fight. But he sometimes slows down so much and becomes passive like he has no desire to fight. So I am still not 100% convinced he is truly the harder opponent and that he is any kind of high-level.

It'll be interesting to see Dubois vs. Hrgovic.

"Fighting southpaws is no big deal to him."

He's got decent experience against them but he's underperformed relative to expectations. Zhang was a 7/1 underdog and went 50-50 over 12, did most of the damage. McKean was expected to get stopped in mid-late and not to win a few rounds in the process.

Hrgovic is reminiscent of Vitali though. And he gave Wilder a tough spar back in 2013.
