keep swimming in the sewer with the other ill informed rats popkins. one day you might surprise us all and crawl out of the esb gutter with an educated post :think
And you make might a substantial post that is about boxing one day, rather than go around with a full-blown veiny erection every time you see someone mention Joe Calzaghe or start an argument with someone else. General Forum pond life *****. :good
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX0_b_M9ulk[/ame] From 2.20 he is out on his feet swinging weak arm punches. hes taking LOTS of shots and the ref is just waiting for a big shot to land, which i think is good refereeing. and what do you mean there was 1 second left in the round? where the **** did that come from? look closely, theres about 26 seconds left and both the ref AND byron know that byron would have taken a lot of punishment in that time. use your head man. it was a good stoppage. if you wanna talk about premature stoppages, then talk about omar sheika and peter manfredo jr, but not this. ofcourse byron will say it was premature but the evidence speaks for itself... he werent gonna do **** ALL ELSE in that figth and he knows it!!! deal:deal
He was not bad,he just isn`t as good as some of his fans make out.He could be good to watch like in the Lacy fight or dire like in the Starie fight.Good fighter but not great.
I think Mitchell was done in that fight. A bit premature? Possibly. But not a bad stoppage IMO. To say he was going to do **** all in the fight is a little off base though. He had just dropped Calzaghe and with some of the stuff he was landing might have stopped Calzaghe in the 2nd if JC hadn't landed that one big left right when he did. There's no reason to think he wasn't going to be able to do it again.
Have to give credit to Calzaghe, he looked dizzy and out when Mitchell floored him but came back swinging even if they were looping swings his legs were gone. But the ref shouldnt have stopped it because both were hurt and 30 seconds were left in the round. Even though the ropes held Mitchell up, if given the standing 8 count, both Calzaghe and Mitchell could have made it to the end of the round, giving them another minute to recover. Mitchell was a proven 12 round fighter who after given time to compose himself may have still been a threat, not saying he would have beaten Calzaghe, but he wasnt a bum like many of Calzaghe's previous opposition so would have been interesting to see him continue. still **** happend.
think that fight sums calzaghe up. no matter what anybody says about joe, he always came to stand toe to toe and have a tare up, rarely taking a backward step, rarely holding on. he was a fighter who could fight in adversity, every time he was in trouble in his career he fired back immediatly rather than try and weather the storm.
they say that if he was an american he'd be legend. you seem to forget that if he was an american he would have fought the americans before they got old lol thus would definitely not be.... undefeated
Calzaghe went toe to toe with everyone he fought, whether it was Lacy, Kessler or a bum like Pudwill, he rarely went on the back foot. The only fighter he fought that was able to put Calzaghe on the backfoot effectiveley was Kessler and respect is due Calzaghe did fight a good fight. A Calzaghe vs Froch would have been a good tare up. Sadly Calzaghe didnt want to fight the WBC SMW Mandatory after being called out on numerous occasions. That being said....
What planet are you from? Calzaghe was at the end of his career and looking for bigger money fights. Froch wasnt a big name anywhere at this time except in the UK (I like Froch, but lets be honest). So Calzaghe fought Hopkins, a better fighter, Ring LHW champ, P4P #3 who is more widely known and for bigger money. What dont you understand? Froch might have been an undefeated contender but wasnt on the radar. Who do you think Joe should have fought out of those 2 with how everything was at the time?
He wont give you an answer. They like to forget Joe beat all the top American SMWs that would fight him
