Agreed. Something about this fight, both being so young, and so good, and facing off in their prime just screams 'Vintage Boxing' to me.... one of the best matchups out there today in my opinion, hope it happens after their next fights or so.
The Maidana-Cayo winner looks like a realistic option. Bradley is suppose to fight in June and that would give the winner about 9-10 weeks to get ready, barring any major cuts or injuries that is doable. He probably won't get a major fight in June. The Maidana-Cayo winner is probably his best option, he could end up facing someone like Matthyse or even someone moving up from 135 like Casamayor. But after his summer fight then he should have plenty of options for late 2010 fight. Alexander, Valero, Khan, Katsidis, etc will all need opponents. I don't expect all of them will be available but there should be atleast one in there who will face Bradley then.
If Cayo wins, possibly. If Maidana wins, unlikely since he just signed a deal with Golden Boy. What about Kaiser Mabuza, the dude who just KO'd Holt? That dude deserves a payday. If not, I'm guessing it'll be some semi-name who has done something in the past. Maybe someone along the lines of Kotelnik, Bailey, Ngoudjo
Bradley is getting ****ed without the KY jelly. Alexander wants to fight washed up Judah instead of him. Golden Boy has their own seperate, Golden Boy only, tourney going on. If Pacquiao ever comes back down to 140 it would probably be only to fight Valero. Bradley will struggle to find a fight this summer. Next fall or winter, he might be able to land the Alexander fight. If he can win that fight, who knows what will be next.
I don't have a problem with Alexander taking a Judah fight before fighting Bradley. Due to Don King hiding him for years, Alexander is still very unknown. A Judah fight would be a good profile raising fight for Alexander. And assuming it does happen in St Louis, it helps to build him a regional base there. Freakin' boring a$$ Cory Spinks drew a crowd there. I'm guessing Alexander should be able to also. Its too bad for Bradley, but, I think a Judah fight is the right move for Alexander.
I think Devon might need one or two more fights before hopping in with Tim Bradley, but I definetly want to see this fight within the next year or so...
Bradley said in a interview recently the only tough guy willing to do a fight with him was Nate Campbell agian. If Campbell beats Ortiz then maybe he has to go after a rematch just to keep active.
I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being Stevie Forbes. No, he's not ranked by the WBO right now, but he could easily mysteriously appear in the rankings. I wonder how Bradley vs. Rees would do in the UK? Considering two of the biggest draws in the weight class are big over there, it might not be bad for him to try raising his profile over there. I doubt GBP wants their fighters near Bradley. Too much risk, not enough reward, and GBP doesn't usually deal with Showtime (although that seems to be changing a bit).
Actually, thinking back, Bradley and Guzman had about agreed to fight, but the WBO prevented the fight from being made due to the fallout from not making weight against Campbell. Campbell ended up getting the fight instead. Guzman-Funeka is on the Maidana-Cayo card. Guzman looks to be in a great place right now, mentally and physically. Should be able to handle Funeka this time around and pick up his 3rd division world title. Then you have the real possibility of Guzman targeting Bradley for his fourth division title!! 3 divisions is certified hall of famer, but a fourth and the guy starts getting put on ATG lists, rightfully so.
Duke McKenzie? Fernando Montiel? Jorge Arce? Leo Gamez? In this watered down era of four belts, plus interim and super champs and all that crap, winning a title in three weight classes isn't what it used to be.
