not a popular guy right now, and nobody will agree with me but I still say Chambers, or maybe Tony Thompson.
I think Brewster is finished. Rahman has been around a while and I think his best days are behind him, don't get me started on Ruiz. Brock was beat by Chambers.

some people will say Johnson or Arreola but those guys have fought nobody.
even though having the zero looks good.

Thompson is like Cunningham at cruiserweight...and Chambers a young Toney already being fed up all the way to heavyweight.

Both are the best the US have to offer at the moment...

Is it merely punch resistance that would stop the likes of Cunningham going upto heavyweight cos he looked excellent against Huck and could outbox the lumbering Heavies surely??

They already have a guy with that style in Thompson @heavyweight - that should be enough...give me some well-schooled bangers like that guy from ESPN last week that KOed Davis...

I guess Tompson. I wish Brewster was healthy, the guy was pure entertainment win or lose.

Is he a citizen? I do not think so.

Maskaev has dual U.S. - Russian citizenship, and lives near Sacramento, AFAIK.

Peter should have a U.S. citizenship by now as well.

So I will go with this pair.

as bad as the current state is, the major thing is that nobody is out there coming up. So as bad as things are, they are only going to get worse. Especially when you consider the fighters the US does have right now are almost all holdovers from the 90's. Looking at the US amateur team, looking at the way gyms are closing all across the states, looking at how prisons rarely have boxing programs these days, looking at the lack of trainers that are out there, its going to be a long time coming before the US has any more than one or two top ten guys.

I think the fact that a nigerian and a soviet guy that have gained US passports are being touted as the best the USA has to offer says it all.....it's very disppointing cos the USA was a breeding ground of legendary fighters.....

P.S. whatever happened to michael grant??
