Please introduce yourself, and tell us what is wrong with you. I had never seen that fight until today. But I had always heard there was an amount of conjecture over who won. Now that I've witnessed the fight (great fight), I know that Ray Leonard put on a Clinic. I had it 8 rounds to 4, being as generous as I could to Hagler. Anyone who thinks Hagler came close to winning that fight please step forward and explain the basis of your ignorance.

Hagler said he is still bitter about this fight. I think it's more ego than anything admitting he lost. It was a close fight, but I believe the SD was fair.

i scored the fight for leonard, but hagler's bug-a-boo was that he landed a lot of bodyshots and didn't get any credit for them, which is something that happens in a lot of fights.
but i just feel that if hagler was doing so much damage to leonard's body, why didn't leonard slow down more? he was still moving AND punching towards the end of the fight, and he just landed the more eye-catching punches throughout IMO.

i have always felt it's a way of looking more knowledgable to say that ray won.
it was a certain hagler win

he did more work and only lossed 30 seconds at the end of the rounds.
you telling me im suppose to buy in to a last round flurry to sway me?

it was totaly hagler. even though ray did win some rounds im not going to lie but hagler won most of them.

I've always scored it 7-5 for Leonard, and I'm a Hagler fan. Marvin came on too late, looked sluggish throughout.

I agree. I'm also a Hagler fan and wanted him to win. Honestly though I felt Sugar Ray won a fair but close fight.

Flurry? Did you have a brain tumour for breakfast? Hagler did not land one punch at any time in the fight without coping 5 in return. Leonard made him look foolish.

Are you people that had Hagler winning the same downs syndrome ******s that think Hatton was winning after 7 roiunds against Floyd? You people need to have your brains removed and clinically examined for numerous defects. Boxing is about landing scoring punches. Leonard was hitting Marvins fat bald head all night long and Hagler did nothing but swing and miss. He looked like a big slow oaf.

That's the issue. A 30 second flurry is all Leonard ever did, that's why I thought it went to Hagler in a very close fight. It's Hagler's own fault though for coming out orthodox and slow in the early rounds.

I'm convinced you didn't actually see the fight and are just a flamer who isn't interested in hearing what anyone has to say. Go play in traffic.

that 30 second showboat won him the fight but i thought Hagler won the fight. And I think Tommy Hearns won the second fight!

I watched the fight with my father who is an old school boxer who has never seen much of Hagler. I was telling him about the 'greatest Middleweight of all time' and thought I would show him an example by putting on the Leonard fight. I then had to rationalize to my father why this 'greatest middlewight of all time' was getting made to look like a buffoon by a smaller man. Fair enough it was Sugar Ray Leonard, but still, he got a boxing lesson, and anyone could witness a class difference in that ring.

I watched the fight live ppv with about 25 guys in a small apartment living room. It was electrifying with all the pre-fight hype and buildup. Strangers came in off the street and dropped a $1.00 or 2 into a bucket or shared beer.

Obviously Leonard won the first few rounds with Haglar doing the conventional stance BS, but once he got going, Haglar seemed to get the edge in most rounds but Leonard did a lot of subtle adjustmenet to keep things very close and win a few. In the end, I honestly had no idea who won, though I thought Leonard may get a judges decision because of his popularity and the David vs. Goliath scene that played out. We all know the outcome, but to me, that fight was a draw. I have not watched the fight since, and I don't know if I will because I actually like remembering that fight as I saw it that night.

people who say hagler was ROBBED are just Leonard haters. Leonard rightfully won that fight. He won in the middle of the ring, and his flurries off the ropes were more effective.

Thanks for the life story flamer. Doesn't explain why fighting for 30 seconds per round wins a fight 8 rounds to 4.

Hagler showed too much respect for Leonard (and Duran) but I don't understand why Hagler did'nt box southpaw for the first few rds. That cost him the fight. Plus, who thinks Leonard was juiced?
