    Kinda sorta. He wasn't some well established global name when he fought Page, but wasn't a total unknown. He had punched his ticket to escape the Guyanese domestic scene stopping Terrence Alli, and then fought several times in the US. Beat no great shakes, granted, but Teddy Reid and some other ESPN level types to earn his title shot.

    Had it just been random record-padding at home in Guyana, then suddenly challenging Page and making a single defense against Marks before losing every important fight the rest of his career (Mayorga, Margarito, Eastman) - then he'd fit the thread's mold a bit better. :thumbsup:
