Mijares cannot even KO a simply standing target (Navarro) Though he has a better workrate, his punches are more of a soft-touch leatherette. Mijares has only 41% KO rate while Donaire has 63% (see box rec) Both have the same height and reach advantage. 5'6" and 68" LETs the RUMBLEE BEGINS!!!:happy
I think Donaire beats Mijares by UD. Donaire can counter punch and crack and he will catch Mijares and probably drop him atleast once. This fight has to be made.
Donaire is young still and very hittable....I do not believe Mijares will be an easy night at the fights
This would be a bad schooling, Donaire would be broken down mentally and bewildered on what to do by round 4-5 and would get thrashed until he quit subsequently. Mijares TKO 8.
Because, I'm an extremist.:good Though, it's always a pick by accumulation/damage stoppage, not an actual KTFO scenerio. Donaire literally will get pounded nasty and Mijares may not be a heavy hitter, but he accumulates a lot of damage, if you notice his opponents faces after it's over.
More realistically, 10-12, but I do think that Donaire will either retire in the corner or his corner will throw in the towel. OR, we could all be surprised and see him busted up and dropped. Please remember, Mijares is the only person to stop Kawashima, despite Kawashima facing some pretty good punchers, and this was done on accumulation. Donaire stylistically is just ****ed here, Mijares' jab won't allow him to do anything.
Arce - Massive heart, many years of experience, great chin. Donaire - ? Question mark is the key thing. Donaire's defence is his foot movement and slight head movement, he's not a good defensive fighter per say and when he has been hit by a good shot, he tends to freeze up and need to reset. Mijares won't allow to reset and will mess up his movement with his jab. Now, if you're not very experienced, freeze up when under attack and lack the advanced defensive skills to protect yourself and probably lack the mentality to dig deep as you're young and inexperienced, what's going to happen vs. Cristian Mijares? You're in for a bad night.
This kid is just not ready for a fighter in the calibre of Cristian Mijares, it's ludicris to suggest that he'd win. He'd be fortunate to even take a round or 2, literally, and Cristian would have to give those away. I can't think of a worse style for Donaire than Mijares. When Maldonado did land a few stiff jabs, Donaire's movement was upset and he had to reset.
the reason i'm picking this one to be close is that Mijares has had 39 fights to Donaire's 20. Mijares has been through some tough times already and seems to be only recently coming of age and has entered his prime. Donaire has more ability but in this fight experience might be the X factor. donaire has really been rushed in fighting Darchinyan in only his 19th pro fight. and then Maldonaldo in his 20th. Before Darchinyan he had not really faced tough opposition and so far he has handled the huge jump in class amazingly but it is still a question mark (though not a big one) Putting him in against a guy like Hussein Hussein is a good move by his managers.
