Interesting how the poll numbers run parallel with how most people scored the fight, around 8-4 or even 9-3 in favor of Calzaghe.
I gave round 1-6 to Hopkins, den round 7-12 to Joe... but Bhop scored a kd in the 1st round so i scored it 114-113..i may be wrong
Why on earth did you post a link to that Calzaghe "highlights" vid?? If anything it is further evidence that Joe only landed a couple of punches the entire evening! Check out Joe's mush from 1:23-1:31 in that vid - from terrified to almighty relief. Joe knew he lost that fight.
Joe knew that he won this fight comfortably 9 rounds to 3 so when the first card was read he was like "**** I should have expected that in America" but luckily the judges couldnt find enough close rounds to give to Hopkins because most were dominated by Calzaghe.
Joe won a close one. Bernards negativity might of cost him the fight but you could also argue that Joe's handspeed and workrate kept Hopkins in a shell. Some people will not be convinced however. They'll believe whatever they want to believe.
Can we have a poll for 'Who thought that Calzaghe beat Hopkins at the time but, after Hopkins v Pavlik, started claiming that they thought Hopkins won?'. Thanks.
so to score the fight you turned the sound off and watched it in slow motion??? how can you judge a fight watching it in slow motion... does a fight happen in slow motion (not including most of the heavyweights)? I went to the fight so didn't have the ability to turn the sound off or watch it in slow motion but i scored it for calzaghe, at the fight i gave hopkins the first 10-8 then the 2nd, 3rd and reluctantly (due to obvious cheating) the 10th and Calzaghe all the rest. I have watched the fight again twice and the only difference was, i gave hopkins the 4th as well as i noticed calzaghes punches didn't land as well as i thought they had. Also in the 11th and 12th round all the hopkins fans left the fight as they thought that he had lost (he did) and probably because of the fact he tried to cheat.
It appeared to me that Hopkins was the one resigned to defeat. He can barely even face the camera. He gives a nervous sort of grin in response to winning oh so narrowly on the 1st cardand especially when Joe wins more convincingly on the 2nd, clearly realising that even with his knockdown and early success, it has been adjudged that he is only good by a point and has lost more rounds than he has won in one judges opinion and drawn in terms of rounds on the other. As the 3rd card comes to be read out Joe had his arms up in triumph, while Hopkins looked sheepish to say the least. Hopkins knew he lost that fight. Which is besides the point as the judges and most fans believe he lost too, which is most important.
