Great Post and as jc said if Hopkins had opened up ala Pavlik Joe would of had an easier time with him.
A human being does not have the same energy levels and stamina at 43 that he did in his mid-30s. That is an undeniable condition of being human, it is nothing like an excuse. The Hopkins of 2001 would have had no trouble whatsoever coping with Calzaghe's workrate, to say otherwise only shows you don't know much about Hopkins's conditioning and his prime abilities. Cooper floored Cassius, and Cassius was teetering on the brink of being KO'd when the round ended. In the corner, Angelo Dundee split his glove (I think, it was something to do with the glove) so it bought Cassius valuable minutes to recover while they got a replacement glove.
I was sorely dissappointed but I dont think you can in any way say hop was victim of a robbery he just didnt do enough at the end of the day
Calzahge's done the same to many younger men than, who had greater energy levels than him. Kessler for example. It's a flimsy excuse, especially after Hopkins performance against Pavlik. I specifically mentioned that I had watched the Ali Cooper fight a couple times because I had heard about how Ali got, according to many, "valuable minutes to recover". Others mentioned that it was much less time than that so I wanted to see for myself. It's been a while but I used a stop watch between rounds and found that it was a few extra seconds, if I remember correctly about 3 or 4 seconds. Where did you get your "valuable minutes" information? Watch it again on u-tube, time it, and let me know how much extra time Ali got.
Kessler had better energy levels than Calzaghe?? That isn't true at all, Calzaghe is a far busier and more frenetic fighter than Kessler, and has went a full competitive 12 rounds more so he has also proved to have better stamina as things stand. Being 35 is not the same as being 43, anyone who is 43 will tell you that. At 35 it is far easier to match a younger man as your own fitness/stamina levels haven't begun majorly serious and irreversible decline by then (in most well-conditioned people anyway). Being over 40 is a completely different thing. I find it strange that this isn't obvious and taken as red by you. I haven't seen that fight in YEARS and when I did watch it I didn't sit with a stopwatch and a pen and paper to take a note of the exact time the glove stunt won Clay - but I feel pretty sure it was longer than a couple of seconds, I recall there being a substantial delay, at least half a minute. But hey, I could be wrong, I haven't seen it in years. Good example of blatant dodgy tactics though!!
Why didn't you just name the thread "I thought Hopkins Beat Calzaghe And Want To Argue With People Who Disagree" ??
Yet again, you join a thread to comment on me rather than on the thread-subject. Yawn. Stalking is a very unattractive quality sir. However, on to business - is this my thread, you clown?? Did I start it?? I expect a grovelling handwritten apology to be on my desk first thing tomorrow. :hi:
Clown??? Nice one I'm not surprised you used the emoticon, but where is the "Fail" or "Ban" ?? You over use yawn as well...... If you dont get affected by my posts why do you reply all the time??? Can't resist can you......you get annoyed and need the last word
The rounds were close but I had Calzaghe winning. Because of the close rounds I can see how the judges might've scored it a SD though.
I had it 115-113 for Joe...I was rooting for BHOP but I cant hate on the man that won. Close decision for Joe.
Watch the fight with the sound turned down. Watch it impartially as if you are watching two animals fighting on a documentary. Calzaghe won.
