There is nothing artistic or beatuiful about having a square head.

In fact the only time i would use the word artist to describe you would be when it followed the word ****.

In any case like I already stated most judges especially in America will always give the round to the one trying to push the fight if the round is very difficult to call which is right.

Shame Hopkins didn't try to fight Calzaghe the way he fought Pavlik because it would have been a much more entertaining fight although as Hopkins probably knew those tactics would be playing right into Calzaghe's hands.

I dunno about the rematch. Calzaghe is too energetic for Hopkins at this stage. I know he keeps defying age, but it can only go on so long, and I don't want to see Hopkins get dominated by Calzaghe. That's just something that would make me really sad. Seeing a boxing immortal (Jones) get his face rearranged by the mediocre hack was enough.

Calzaghe outlanded Hopkins by a similar ratio as he did Lacy more or less. Lacy is also a bigger more meaningful poster.

I scored the fight 119-110, the opening round 10-9 (10-10 without the KD) and one other round level. The rest all to Calzaghe.

Hopkins was struggling throughout to time Calzaghe (unlike PAV). That's what noticed when I watched it a 2nd time. During the early size up period, Joe had Hopkins second guessing. Joe has really good reflexes. He also has an amazing intuitive ability to feel his opponent out. Hopkins did about as much as he could do (as a 44 yo).

    alright everyone.

i was pretty confident joe had won the fight before the decision was announced, even allowing for home bias. it was close though.

Hopkins chose the tactics he best felt could win him the fight. I think he was right and I think his plan worked. The judges disagreed. Fair enough, but turn the clock back 4-7 years and Hopkins would have soundly, soundly beaten Calzaghe, who in all fairness is far less skilled and relies overly heavily on handspeed and workrate. Hop is 43 now, he can't fight like he used to 2001-4. There has never been a human being in history that has the same energy levels and stamina in his mid-40s that he had in his mid-30s. However, I still think he could beat Calzaghe in a rematch as although his stamina issues can't be eradicated, he would be super-motivated and I think he could turn in one last epic performance.

think his last top performance may have come against pavlik myself.
he would never have easily beaten calzaghe mate, which calzaghe performace tells you he could have ? i remember howard eastman being mildly competitive against hopkins, an joe is far ,far superior.
any hopkins - calzaghe fight would have been close i reckon

Hopkins was landing the cleaner shots ! Calzaghe was just landing sloppy punches in volume !

I had Bernard ahead just ...

Me too. I still can't see how you can score that fight to Joe. Simply waving your arms around is not enough to win a round.

I watched the fight for the first time yesterday mate.

It is fresher in my head than anyone elses, my opinion is probably extremely valid for a change.

Agreed, though I have Hopkins having a point deducted anyway, which cancels out the KD.

I can see why Hopkins did a U turn all those years ago and ran from Joe, A: Hopkins back then is pre prime unlike now (see Pavlik fight for proof) B: Calzaghe is slightly shot now, imagine what a prime Joe would do, he would thrash him Manfredo style.
