:rofl:rofl. I'd hate to ee a guy like Roy go out the way he is, he's one of my favorites. But he needs to give that boxing $it up, play basketball or be a rapper or sumthing.

He should have retired after the Ruiz fight.

    (Tarver 1 at the latest)

Yes, in an ideal world he would've retired after the Ruiz fight. With the gift of hindsight now we can definitely agree on that.

But at the time Roy had no reason to quit because in his mind he was still Superman and he wanted to keep fighting and keep making history.

After Tarver I, he should've known he was not that guy anymore, but again, he may have believed that fight was just a blip, like Griffin I. Again, with the benefit of hindsight we know it wasn't, but at the time many people thought it was including RJJ himself presumably.

The second Tarver fight and the Johnson fight should in the cold harsh light of reality have been the very end of the road.

I'm always right. The only ppl who praise RJJ and claim he has better days ahead of him are CalZ fans

I get the impression that is true. Calzaghe fanboys and their agendas, eh? I wish their boy had fought enough quality opposition to prove he was an ATG outright so that they weren't left in this predicament of always trying to promote him as one when he has never really proved it.

The funny thing about this was... RJJ said after the Tarver fight that if he could not get the Tyson fight he was going to retire, that was after Larry Merchant asked him. Roy explained how he didn't feel right in there having loss all that weight. He said before the fight when asked how he feels, he said he was at about 70% himself.

He said either the Tyson fight or he is done. If only he had kept TO HIS WORD.

Hell yeah, lol. These clowns are crazy. If Roy got hurt by CalSlappy, imagine what a legit cruiser would do to him! :verysad

:good:good:good. rjj was the man for many years but i think it would be suicidal for him if he will fight in the cruiserweight. sure, he beat ruiz, i think convincingly too since ruiz was simply too slow for him.

at this age, he should retire already while his legacy still shines. i don't want to see him end up like some journeyman losing one fight after the other.

as i have said, it would be suicidal for him. no need for him to put himself in harms way.

his legacy is secure. cruisers are big mother****ers. just imagine holyfield grabbing him with one hand and punching him with the other.

    1. He lost too much weight too quickly before he fought toney...
    2. yes he looked good against JC, well or as good as Bhop, Kessler, Eubank, Ried, Woodhall, Bika or Lacy ever have.
    3. It wasn't JC power that hurt him it is is work rate and relentless punching, he worked very very hard in that fight, styles make fights and JC wins 9/10 times against RJJ.
    4. RJJ is the best counter ouncher i have ever seen, he is going to KO 99% of the people out there even now.
    5. he only caught JC with 1 punch.

people like to make HBO specials out of people like RJJ and him losing but the reality is he is still competitive.

I am not saying RJJ has got a career left in him. maybe 3 more fights but he sure as hell can still fight, he has to be the best or second best boxer of I can ever remeber seeing, he is not just going tobecome **** over night.
