Didn't you know excessive clinching, backtracking & hugging means you didn't even get out of first gear.

He was suspended for nearly 3 years plus there never were any plastered wraps. Ask Pac if he thought Tony had plaster wraps when they fought he spent time in hospital after with damaged ribs. Said he'd never been hit so hard as they took him off to hospital. Tell me .. Do you suspect Pac had loaded gloves that night after the way he destroyed Tony's eye. If you contact the CSAC they'd say they no longer have those pads they got MISLAID !! Yeah right
Bottom line to this is your hero The IV Kid was proven to be terrified of Margarito when he approached him & politly asked him " Why wont you fight me" ? ROFL it was Daffy Duck over again blabbering he was legitimately
terrified . videos have been see showing this as well as the crowd present LOL. Floyd retired?? again when fans were calling for him to fight Tony. I know if Floyd had ever grown a set & got in the ring with Tony his career would have been over Floyd knew it too lol

I’ve forgotten more about boxing than you have ever known. I also know a despicable cheat like Margarito when I see one.

Not everything is placed upon Pacquiao to do this or be that, it takes too & now just imagine Pacquaio didn't bother coming forward at all, for the entire night then what kind of fight would we have gotten & i would wonder who'd have won the fight in the judge's eyes that night with too track stars circling one another.

lol Of course Margarito didn’t have loaded wraps after he was busted. Everyone was wise to him and were extra cautious. Even you C.J. should be able to figure that out. As for “heroes”, I have no heroes in boxing. If I did it wouldn’t be a foul actor like Margarito.

I’ve seen Robinson fight live on Gillette Friday Night Fights. How far back does your “boxing” experience go?

Pac didn’t make the fight and clearly lost. You should be over it by now.

You said Mayweather never got out of first gear, if he had other gears to go to why was he in clinch mode the entire fight???

I've watched thousands and thousands of fights in my lifetime and I've never seen a fighter constantly holding, grabbing and clinching when he's not under a form a pressure he could'nt work himself ouf of fistically.

I can see where a stereotypical boxer can employ clinching tactics when the fighter coming at him wants to employ body to body bulldozing tactics, say if Joe Frazier wanted to stay inside of Ali's chest and rest this head there.
    Pacquiao's advances were'nt and are'nt that way.
Pacquiao steps foward punching and Mayweather reaches out to catch Pacquia's arms and immediately steps foward grassping Pacquiao's arms and upper body and proceeds to grasp on to that clinch like the jaws of life until the referee steps in to break it.
This clinch tactic was constant throughout every round.

Does Mayweather not have the boxing skill to use his fists to box in, out, laterally, and away from a Pacquiao advance???
I saw no semblance of Mayweather employing lateral movements to step away from a Pacquiao punch so that he can come back with a counter. I saw no waist movement where he ducks under and to the side of punches to slip and ride with them and come back with an answer. I did'nt see him establish any kind of a scoring jab, the type that would setup followup scoring punches.

Certainly a fighter does'nt need to go into clinchfest routine to beat Manny Pacquiao.
Juan Manuel Marquez is the perfect example of it. He fought Manny Pacquiao 4 times and not once during their four meetings did either fighter get themselves into a clinch.
Four fights and not one single clinch, not one.
Yet you can pick any Mayweather-Pacquiao round and you have nearly a dozen clinches each and every round, every round my friend. That is exessive holding and it should'nt be allowed in the sport of boxing.

Very extensive post and I apologize for my curt response. Mayweather didn’t mind stinking up a fight as long as he got the win. Mayweather must have done more than clinch since he greatly outlanded Pac in that fight. At 147, Mayweather was primarily a defensive fighter and Pac was supposed to be this offensive juggernaut. If you are being outpunched in a fight, it is up to you to step your game up. Pac never did because either he didn’t want to or Mayweather wouldn’t let him. I know people tend to rationalize events to some extent due to their expectations and I may be doing the same. Anyway, Pac lost and that’s the bottom line.
