The vast majority of people who watched this fight were disgusted, understandably so, by the failure to meet expectations from an action standpoint. But you can't score fights based on entertainment value or expectations being unmet. Just because Pacquiao didn't meet YOUR EXPECTATION of throwing non-stop DOES NOT MEAN he didn't win the fight. Read that again. You can't discredit a fighter because he didn't meet the criteria of what you expected him to do. You base it off of what actually transpired in the ring. To that end, Pac authored the 2 most significant sequences of the fight, countering and stunning Floyd 2X in 2 separate rounds. Along the way, he was almost tit for tat with Floyd for punches landed. To wit, Floyd had the bloody gums and Floyd was the one being chastised in the corner after the 7th for fighting scared and being warned that he may lose the fight. So Pac was expected to be a typhoon of activity with bunches of punches thrown, which he wasn't. Floyd was EXPECTED to be a spoiler and clinch at every possible opportunity, which he did. So the tale of expectations/gameplans executed doesn't really tell the story. Again, the fight was a stinker, but Pac was almost blow for blow w/ Floyd and hurting Floyd twice put him over the edge for me.
Oh they always forget to mention that & along with the fact that this wasn't the Pacquiao of 2008-2011 that Floyd fought either, The way they describe it in their writing you would have to think that Floyd devastating pummeled Pacquiao every round while Manny not sending anything back, Especially guys like Rum who loves making videos but somehow manages to forget to add those finer details surrounding the fight conveniently when publishing his videos.
This is it, they are acting like Pacquiao was going to come in like the old pre Margarito, If these experts knew anything & payed attention they would have noticed by then that Manny had became a totally different fighter at this point, forget the post Margarito Pacquaio just look at how he fought in his fights against Rios & especially Bradley 2 where he fought him bascially flat footed the whole entire night something unlike the Pacquiao we knew, The Pacquaio Floyd fought was the one post Algeri & we saw how that fight played out & the condition of Pacquiao even then, you don't just get full credit for waiting out a fighter light punching while embarrassing clinching, running & expect everyone besides the Dickriders to bow down.
The much smaller, faded Pacquiao took the fight to Mayweather, who was in his usual "safety pin" cowardly defensive mode. I'd give the fight to Manny Pacquiao, since he tried to make a fight of it, while Floyd's gay "pitty-pat and run" style and repeated clinching made it dull to watch. It is my belief that points should be deducted for running and holding, and rounds should be given to the fighter who is making a fight of it.
What pain? Garbage fight with one guy injured and the other guy using illegal IV fluids and spoiling his way through the snoozefest.
True man, in the old days it was a little different now though with the same kind of judges showing up & particular promoters who handle that side i doubt it will change back, Just imagine that the DAZN, Top Rank & PBC fighters were forced to fight on other networks having no links or upper hands besides them, i bet the results would differ & shock the crowd, Having a Team behind you is more important to the Boxer in today's time which trumps even the purse, opponent, trainer, Venue their fighting etc........
A competent ref who does his job would have warned Floyd about excessively clinching and deducted a point. Instead, Floyd was allowed to throw himself at Pac's waist just for coming close.
Yet you still can’t let it go. To RATIONAL people, Pac lost in a stinker of a fight and no more needs to be said about it.
