It's a bit of a "no-no" punch because it is one of or perhaps the most telegraphed punch in a fighters arsenal. But some got away with it quite regularly. Ones that come to mind: Roy Jones Jr Floyd Mayweather Muhammad Ali James Toney Thoughts? Am I off my rocker?
Duran and Chavez has excellent lead rights, particularly Duran. He'd often feint with it and follow it up with a left hook to head or body once the opponent had reacted and the distance had closed. You never knew when he was going to feint with it or throw it, masterful in that sense.
great topic johnny tapia, dela hoya, ken norton and vince phillips could throw a good right hand lead
OP has the best but.... Schmelling's lead right/counter right owned Joe Louis. Duran's was great. Lennox would lead with the right at times but usually throw it in a 1-2. AND....Any Southpaw with a good jab
great example cobra, hopkins lead right hand is one of his best weapons. i remember him winging it against lipsey and jones and then it became very refined during his fights against trinidad and tarver.
The footwork Ali uses to allow consistent right hands in round one in Zaire makes him the definitive choice in "best is best" terms. Hopkins, for similair reasons, in modern boxing. Charley Burley, if you want to go a bit further back.
ian napa a british bantamweight. maybe powderpuffed, maybe 5'1 and maybe holds a unsatisfing record...... the guy was considered the new coming of james toney at one point. anyways amazing lead right hand from a half guard.
