Argument with my dad who reckons Floyd Snr trained Hatton for the fight against his son.

Help me out - who was in Hatton's corner against Floyd ???

Billy Graham. Floyd Sr trained him for the Pacquiao fight.

What was the reason for the change from BG? The usual boxer who loses his '0' blames trainers tactics instead of himself kind of thing?

They didnt split straight after the mayweather fight. Seems like there was a few things going on with Hatton and Graham. Both had demons. Graham took it to court for unlaid earnings

Yes, although the link does suggest Hatton wasn't satisfied with Graham over the Floyd fight.

Who knows what the true story is. Hatton should've sunk one of his patented left hooks to the body into the ribs of that grotesque fat bisexual tortoise looking creep Joe Cortez if he was looking for someone to blame for losing that fight lol.

There were various issues, and Hatton was really too much of a class act to conciously blame his trainer - but the underying thing was probably that. It's hard for a winner to cope with a loss after so many years of coming out on top. Hatton's style, habit of blowing up between fights, and unchecked cheating by Mayweather were the chief factors. Fix any one of those factors and Hatton beats Floyd.

Joe Cortez is a fine referee. If there were a 'pound-for-pound' type of ranking for refs he'd be right up there. But I think he messed up in Hatton-Mayweather. To be fair, he confessed he would have if Hatton's people had complained and thet didn't - but that isn't what the rules say. If the rulebook simply said 'the squeaking wheel gets the grease' then yes, Mayweather's overweening grating style would be even more pervasive than it's becoming.

AlI has a lot to answer for, I guess - but then Ali had class, charm, wit, intelligence and an unbeatable will. Floyd's just your average dim-witted rapper.

I don't think Hatton could beat Floyd even with a dedicated, professional lifestyle, optimal training, a favourable referee and Roger Mayweather in his corner. Mayweather is levels above and has too many advantages over Hatton.
