Definitely should write a book, or at least compile the writings already generated into one. The conversational style alone makes the reading worthwhile.
A wonderful account, John Garfield, of what it was like to see Rocky Marciano train and fight in person!:happy Marciano's name was the first one that popped up in my mind when I saw that the topic was about the hardest training fighters. I never saw Rocky in person, but a friend of mine did a few years before Rocky died. My friend said Rocky's hands were very big, which is a remark that has stuck in my mind for years because Rocky was said to have been on the smallish side for a heavyweight. My buddy was about 12 years old at the time, so maybe the adult Rocky's hands seemed bigger than they really were to a small boy, but sometimes the tape measure statistics, films and photos do not completely convey what a fighter's hands are like.
...Well, JG? Have you thought about putting everything down in one place and pitching a book of compiled anecdotes and whatever else? I bet everyone on Classic would buy a copy.
2 British boxers who were known as hard trainers were Lloyd Honeghan and Frank Bruno - dunno if they would be up there with the top guys though.
"Holy, Marciano, Hagler, Mancini & B-Hops." Note: Ray Mancini lacked polished skills, but he was a ripped and solid 135 pounder if their ever was one.... He trained hard... MR.BILL:bbb
A very nice man named JETSKI has painted Winona Ryder for me and it wasn't cheap. I was only messing, of course I'd buy the book.
Manny pac trains harder than any fighter ive ever seen, hes so strict on his training, roadwork, his diet.
Addie the current pic in your avatar??? I've never seen that one of Winona before??? She's looks so beautiful in that one :hey and John - I'd buy two copies of your book - it would no doubt be up there with my faves (the Langford one, the greb one and the Burley/murdererd row one) - in fact a book could be made of your posts on here - there are totally amazing reads - looking forward to you getting back to us with more on Carmine Vingo in that other thread aswell :good
